On October 18th, 2018, we launched our open source role-playing text adventure game project with this slideshow. The video of that meeting is below.
Since, then, students have developed Choose-Your-Own-Adventure games, both as JavaScript-Only projects and then moving the game data to AirTable, a freemium relational database with a great GUI and features we love. Here is one example: The Game Of Love.
In the second half of this year, our new students will develop their own versions, but this time with our new RPG infrastructure (see diagram at left). Players have saved histories now, so that games can be ongoing, and players can be given features (treasure, hit points, etc.) to expand the games.
This is an open source project, and we invite other students to collaborating on the core code or to add their own games.
