The evaluation tool that our district is encouraging staff to use and teach to our students is CAARP. Using the CAARP system can help students determine if the content they have selected is reliable and accurate.
While this tool is encouraged if you have a tool that your students already utilize, feel free to continue to use it!
EasyBib provides an excellent website evaluation guide that provides examples of what and where to look for the details that makes a source credible. The resource reviews credible, questionable, and noncredible sources.
The Flocabulary lesson Source Evaluation is a great resource to introduce the concept to younger students. The lesson includes a rap video, vocab cards, vocab game, readings, and a quiz. If you are interested in using Flocabulary, please contact your building principal for a subscription!
This CAARP test allows students to analyze a source for credibility. Teachers can assign it as an alternative to an annotated bibliography or provide students with the template to use on their own. If you want to create this as a Google Form for students to use and need help, contact a learning partner.
