The Unique Learning System (ULS) is a standards-based program designed for students with special needs to be able to access the general education curriculum. Each assessment—modified to accurately capture present skill levels and guide individual instruction—is designed to meet a specified skill and standard. This design promotes the inclusion of all students in a standards-based curriculum. Unique's interactive lessons allow students of various levels to engage with the content.
ULS does require subscriptions paid for by Student Support Services. If you need assistance with Unique, please contact Student Support Services.
Unique's benchmarks help teachers gather baseline data and track and monitor progress in targeted skill areas (including reading, writing, math, transition and emerging skills). These assessment should be given in the Fall and Spring each school year to determine progress, maintenance and/or regression.
Unique's checkpoints provide pre- and post-assessment measurements of monthly unit content and skills acquisition. The structure of each month's lessons and assessments stay the same, while the topic or theme changes each month.
