All students enrolling in OCC first-year Spanish classes will need access to the textbook and the online companion site, both of which they can expect to use extensively in Profesora Cabanel's classes (unlike the poor students in this vine):

• (online companion site): Connect Plus with LearnSmart - includes an e-version of the textbook, the workbook/lab manual, and additional resources to help you succeed in the class

In order to insure that you end up with the right materials, you should purchase them only from one of these two places:

OPTION 1 (BEST DEAL): Custom bundle (loose-leaf version of Tu mundo, 2nd edition textbook + 2-years access to Connect online companion site) from the OCC Bookstore (ISBN 9781264059386 - $134.29)*

• you prefer to have a hard copy of the textbook; and/or

• you plan to take two semesters of Spanish (I hope you do!)

• Starting on the first day of class, you'll have a free two-week courtesy access to Connect (see next section). • you don't feel the need to have a hard copy of the textbook (an e-version is included in Connect*) or you already have a copy; and

• you're pretty sure that you'll only be taking one semester of Spanish; and

• you're fairly confident that you'll pass the course on your first go.

During the first class meeting, I'll provide instructions for students to sign up for two weeks of free access to the Connect online companion site.

• The Connect site includes an e-version of the textbook, so all students will be able to complete and submit assignments right away.

• No purchase is required to sign up for Connect; official enrollment in the course is not required either. Therefore, ALL students (including those hoping to add the class) can and should sign up for the two-week courtesy access.

At some point before the two-week courtesy access expires, all students planning to continue in the class will need to arrange for continued access to Connect. You will have chosen between one of two options:

• 1. OPTION 1 (BEST DEAL) - OCC Bookstore - Printed book + 2-years access to Connect - $134.29 - order early if having shipped

  2. OPTION 2 (LEAST EXPENSIVE) - Directly from publisher - 180-days access to Connect - $85.00 - can wait to purchase until 2-week courtesy period is almost over

TO PURCHASE THE CUSTOM BUNDLE FROM THE OCC BOOKSTORE

2. Click on TEXTBOOKS (on the top left of the page), and then choose FIND TEXTBOOKS

3. Add the appropriate course information to view the course materials; note that some materials will show up as "bookstore recommended"-- you are not required to purchase these.

   • IMPORTANTE: If the materials are not showing up for my section(s), you can choose a different SPAN 180 or SPAN 185 section.

REDEEMING THE CONNECT CODE

Before the two-week courtesy access period ends, follow the prompts from within Connect to Redeem your code.

Be careful not to confuse the number zero ("0") with the letter "O" when entering your code.

TO PURCHASE THE CONNECT CODE

1. Remember that, with this option, you can wait to purchase until right before the Connect two-week courtesy period expires.

2. When prompted in Connect to continue access (either by entering a registration code or buying online), choose Buy Online.

3. You'll see two choices: $150.00 for 2 years access to Connect and $85.00 for 180 days access (see images below).

4. Choose the 180-day option ($85.00).

   1. • If you'd rather have the 2-year option, it's better to purchase from the OCC Bookstore, as that package includes not only the 2-year access, but also a loose-leaf version of the textbook for less money ($128.57 vs. $150.00).

5. There will be no code to redeem; once you pay, your access is automatically extended.
