What's the difference between my honors and non-honors Spanish classes? Both are demanding, challenging and very fun! However, there are important differences regarding two primary areas: material covered and additional activities.
Students in honors Spanish sections cover the same material as students in the non-honors sections. However, students in the honors sections have additional assignments, as well. In addition to a weekly creative writing project, they typically complete two to three of the following assignments:
A cultural excursion or a service learning activity with pre-event activities and a research/reflection essay;
A cultural research project with a corresponding oral presentation and section on the final exam;
The reading of a novella and a corresponding section on the final exam;
Two to three (1-2 page) writing assignments.

Note that the prerequisites for honors and non-honors sections are the same. Both Spanish A180 and A180H serve as prerequisites for Spanish A185 or A185H; and either Spanish A185 or A185H will work as a prerequisite for Spanish A280 or A280H.
