My Daily Routine

Hello! My name is Jake, and I am 10 years old. I have a busy day every day!

I wake up at 7:00 a.m. and get out of bed. Then, I brush my teeth and wash my face. At 7:30 a.m., I have breakfast with my family. I usually eat toast and drink milk.

At 8:00 a.m., I go to school. My classes start at 8:30 a.m.. I like math and science! At 12:00 p.m., I have lunch at school with my friends.

After school, I go home at 3:00 p.m.. I do my homework at 4:00 p.m. and then I play soccer in the park at 5:00 p.m.. I love playing soccer!

In the evening, I have dinner at 7:00 p.m. with my family. After dinner, I watch TV or read a book. At 9:00 p.m., I brush my teeth and go to bed.

That is my daily routine! What about you?

Telling time/ Decir la hora

Para decir la hora, debes conocer los números en inglés. Haz clic aquí, si deseas aprender o repasar los números en inglés.

Además debes conocer las expresiones que determinan el tiempo leído en el reloj, algunas de estas son:

O'clock: en punto.
A quarter after, a quarter past ...: ... y cuarto.
A quarter to: Un cuarto para, menos cuarto.
Thirty:...y media.
Five to...: Cinco para..., menos cinco.
Ten to...: Diez para..., menos diez.
Twenty to: Veinte para..., menos veinte.

Si se trata de una hora en punto "o'clock", no se hace uso del a.m. o p.m., en cambio, se puede utilizar cualquiera de éstos términos según la hora del día:

In the morning: de la mañana
- It's six in the morning - Son las seis de la mañana.
In the afternoon: en la tarde (12:00pm-6:00pm)
- Let's meet at six in the afternoon - Encontrémonos a las seis de la tarde.
In the evening: en la tarde-noche (6:00pm-8:00pm)
- Our appointment is at 8 in the evening - Nuestra cita es a las 8 de la noche.
