If you’re a student in my CSIT 101 class, you may be asking yourself:
What should I include in my ePortfolio for Unit 0?
That’s a great question, but you may not like the answer…
I want you to decide!
Why? Because you’re a smart, creative college student who needs to realize that there won’t always be someone telling you exactly what to do. Plus, that’s not how you learn.
Remember our gaming example:
How do you learn a new game?
By playing. By failing. By practicing. By getting better. By making it further until… boom! You know what you’re doing!
Would you have learned that game as well if someone just told you every step? Where to click? What to do? Or does that take the fun (and learning) out of it?
Reflect on what you did in Unit 0 (setting up your notebook, navigating Brightspace, registering in SIMnet, sending professional emails, discussing digital communication, etc.).
Explain what you learned from these activities. This could be about the importance of notes, digital communication best practices, or even just how to survive the first week or two of the semester!
Show evidence. You may upload a screenshot, a photograph, or any other type of example of your work.
Would you have learned any of this as well if I just told you exactly what to post? Probably not. This is your space to be creative and represent your learning in your own way.
