SCU's Product Club hosted its 2nd flagship Product Challenge event on August 7, 2021 focused on Product Marketing. The 4-hour event was designed to inspire students for a future career in Product Marketing. Eight industry experts and four participating teams of 22 graduate students attended the event virtually. Participating teams were asked to design a successful Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy for a new product launch. The event culminated in each team giving a 4-minute presentation on GTM strategy followed by thought-provoking comments by the judges.
Teams were presented with a fictional product designed during the pandemic, the problem that this new product was trying to solve, and the targeted segment. Participating graduate students worked in teams of 4 or 5 to reposition the product for the changing landscape of the market. Each team was assigned to an industry expert and had the opportunity to work closely with them and receive mentorship throughout the challenge. Each team delivered a business model, a press release, and a final presentation on GTM strategy. Details about the fictional product on which teams worked can be found here.
It was amazing to see all 4 teams present phenomenal work with so much enthusiasm and passion in just 3 hours. The judges selected two teams for the awards "Best Viable GTM Strategy" and "Best Press Release"! See above for all team presentations.
SCU's Product Club received tremendous support from Professor Kumar Sarangee, and Professor Charles Byers, who assisted the club in designing this event. The club also received invaluable input from its Advisory Board members Professor Fiona Ji, and Charlotte Swenson. All four teams were also paired with an industry professional serving as a coach for their teams. These coaches helped students develop a successful GTM strategy and a compelling press-release.
