Product Challenges
On February 27, 2022, SCU's Product Club hosted its 3rd Product Challenge event, focused on Product Sense. The 4-hour event was designed to inspire students to prepare for future product interviews related to a key skill of developing product sense. Six industry experts and four participating teams of 15 graduate students attended the event virtually. Participating teams were asked to answer the question "How would you improve Airbnb?" in an effort to identify the problem, pain points, solutions with appropriate prioritization. Participating graduate students worked in teams of 4 or 5 to assess and present on these items in an effort to provide a cohesive solution to the prompt. Each team was assigned to an industry expert to provide guidance as they collaborated throughout the challenge. As a final deliverable teams were asked to present their solutions along with their processes and had the opportunity to receive feedback from industry expert judges.
On August 7, 2021, SCU's Product Club hosted its 2nd Product Challenge event, focused on Product Marketing. The 4-hour event was designed to inspire students for a future career in Product Marketing. Eight industry experts and four participating teams of 22 graduate students attended the event virtually. Participating teams were asked to design a successful Go-To-Market strategy for a new product launch. They were presented with a fictional product designed during the pandemic, the problem that this new product was trying to solve, and the targeted segment. Participating graduate students worked in teams of 4 or 5 to reposition the product for the changing landscape of the market. Each team was assigned to an industry expert and had the opportunity to work closely with them and receive mentorship throughout the challenge. Each team delivered a business model, a press release, and a final presentation.

On February 21, 2021, Product Club hosted its first-ever Product Challenge event, focused on Product Innovation. The 4-hour event was deigned to inspire students for a future career in product. Seven teams of 5 students/alumni were provided an image prompt and asked to develop their own problem statement from looking at the image prompt, identify their customer persona via a customer interview session, develop a storyboard, and prototype their solution. The event culminated in each team giving a 4-minute elevator pitch on their unique solution to the identified problem. To learn more about this event and the teams' presentations, click here.
