What is a Cinemagraph?
A cinemagraph is a still photograph in which a minor and repeated movement occurs, forming a video clip. They are usually published as an animated GIF or in other video formats, and can give the illusion that the viewer is watching an animation.
Many people use cinemagraphs as a way to tell a story that a regular still photo cannot. They are used for many businesses as it is a lot easier than producing a video and it also is used for marketing purposes as it focuses on the product or brand in a better way.
Inspiration For First Cinemagraph
For my first cinemagraph, I knew that I wanted to have a liquid pouring into a cup. So, I went on pinterest and did my research. After finding the right inspiration, I began to shoot the video.
After shooting the video, I opened it into photoshop. It created a timeline where it had one layer. I then decided which part of the video I wanted in my cinemagraph and clicked select all and then copy and pasted to create a second layer.
On the second layer, I used layer masking so that I could create the still image. On the layer mask, I used the brush tool in color black to select which part of the photo I wanted to be in motion. After doing that, I made sure the setting was on cross fade and then I exported.

Inspiration For Second Cinemagraph
I completed the same first steps as my other cinemagraph and opened up my video into photoshop. I decided I wanted to try the pages in the book flipping. This was a bit difficult to get at first. The pages moving in each frame were tough to get to look like they were all moving smoothly.
So, when doing the step of the layer masking, I needed to use the brush tool and then hit pause and play for each frame of the video.
The red line that goes through the video is what I used to pinpoint where I wanted my still photo to be.
I then ended with the same final steps, which are putting the setting on cross fade and then exporting for web legacy.
