I While still in Jail – Family or friends might help you in the following:
A. Resume information – Information on education and former jobs, including names, dates, addresses, and employer contacts.
B. References – A list of people who would give you good references about your character and job performance. No family members allowed. (Note: Ask permission for use of name as reference, for your sake and his/hers.)
A template for producing a resume is available in the chaplain’s office.
II When you get out of jail
A. First stop at – Brown County Job Center, 701 Cherry St., Green Bay
At the information desk, ask about (1) Begin Again, (2) CORE SERVICES – focusing on Job Search, Resume Writing, Creating Cover Letters, and Interviewing Skills
· Classes available
· Job ideas for those who do not know where to start
· Computers available for job search, resume writing, letters
· Mock Job interviews
B. Jobs are hard to find
· Entry-level positions will most likely be your starting point but don’t concentrate your efforts on fast food places
· While looking for employment, volunteer positions are good for experience and for your resume
