Add a synth or any tone based instrument to an audio track. We're using "Marseille" from Gadget.
Connect Prism to the audio track and filter the MIDI input input to channel 2 as we’ll use track 2 in Prism to add some chords.
Let's jump to another track. Press either of the below buttons to jump to the track select state
Let's select track 2
Note: Each track in Prism has a unique color. You can manually set the color by long pressing a trig while in track select then using the keypad. I'm setting all my tracks to "cyber blue" for website vibes.
Press SEQ -> Tonal Track
to setup track 2 to control a pitch based tonal instrument
Laying down notes in Prism is a breeze.
Play notes using the [4x4] matrix to hear their output—active notes will appear on the center screen in real time. To place a note in the sequence, tap any trig step, just like you would on a Drum Track.
Since Prism is designed for iPhones and small touchscreens, it includes powerful tools that make a single finger go a long way.
In this example, we’ll use Multi-Chord mode to quickly build a pattern of seventh chords.
Press the keypad note tab to toggle through the available play modes
We are looking for mode 3 - Chord: Multi
Press Keypad 2 to switch to the second chord type: seventh chords.
Tip: While in Multi-Chord mode, you can long-press any of the four numbered keypads at the top to customize chord intervals and build your own chord types.
Press a lettered keypad to set the active notes.
Then press any sequence step to add a trig.
.Add a few more trig steps to complete the chord progression.
press and hold the trig we want to edit to enter [Trig Edit]
While still holding the trig press the step indicating the desired length. You can also slide your finger right from the selected trig to set length.
Release your fingers to go back to SEQ
To keep our set trig step's relative placement and simply extend the overall length we can use the 'Seq Stretch' transformation
Go to the transformation keypad tab
Press the grow pad
Press Stretch
Each time you press stretch your pattern will double in length, up to a max of 16 bars. To get to 4 bars we need to stretch twice
[1->2->4].
Press & hold the [SEQ Setup] button to open the quick config keypad.
Tap “1 Page” to set a resolution that displays the entire sequence across 16 trig steps.
Keys and scales are central to how Prism handles pitch. All tonal shifts across every track stay within the boundaries of the selected scale, ensuring musical coherence. You can change the key or scale at any time—any notes you've already entered will automatically adapt.
Press SONG to access global song settings.
You’ll notice pink highlights—these indicate global controls that affect multiple tracks.
Now adjust the Root and Mode to choose your scale. For this example, we’ll go with E Minor.
