Want to set up Wi-Fi on the Brother HL-L2350DW and stop relying on a cable? The HL-L2350DW is a compact laser printer with built-in wireless or USB connections. Once it is on your network, you can print from a desktop, laptop, smartphone, or tablet. This guide walks through the process from the printer’s control panel.
A few minutes of preparation makes the process smoother.
Your network name and password. Brother advises noting your network name (SSID) and network key first. Without them, you can’t continue the wireless setup. The password is case-sensitive, so type capital letters carefully.
A compatible Wi-Fi band and security type. The printer’s wireless standard is 802.11b/g/n, and it supports WPA/WPA2-Personal security. Printer Tech Services recommends choosing your router’s 2.4 GHz network if it shows two names.
A nearby printer. Place it close to your router while you work.
The printer has a single-line, 16-character display, so password entry can feel slow. Brother’s wizard follows this order:
Select Network and press OK.
Select WLAN and press OK.
Select Setup Wizard and press OK.
Choose On when WLAN Enable? appears.
Pick your network from the list and press OK.
Enter your password, press OK, and apply the settings.
After a short wait, the screen shows “Connected” if the connection worked.
If your router has a WPS button, you can skip typing the password. Choose WPS from the WLAN menu, and when the screen tells you to press the key on the router, press the WPS button. The printer detects the router and connects by itself. The HL-L2350DW is Wi-Fi Protected Setup certified.
A working connection is only half the job, because your devices also need the printer software.
For a computer, open your model’s Downloads page at support.brother.com, or use the installation disc. During installation, select Wireless Network Connection (Wi-Fi) and follow the prompts.
For a phone or tablet, the Brother Mobile Connect app for Android and iOS lets you print and scan from your smartphone. Keep the phone on the same Wi-Fi network as the printer so it can find it.
The printer is Wi-Fi Direct certified, and Brother’s support pages for this model explain how to use it. This lets a device connect straight to the printer when no router is available.
Printer Tech Services names these common causes:
A mistyped password, the most frequent culprit
A router that combines 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under one name
A printer that is too far from the router
A router that needs a restart. Unplug it for about 30 seconds, plug it back in, and wait a couple of minutes.
If entering the password keeps failing, WPS is a good alternative.
To set up Wi-Fi on the Brother HL-L2350DW, gather your network name and password, run Network > WLAN > Setup Wizard, and wait for “Connected”. Then install the driver or Brother Mobile Connect, and you’re ready to print wirelessly.
