HP printer not connecting to WiFi? There are a few reasons why your HP Smart app may not be finding your printer, may seem offline or will not connect after replacing your router and how to fix this.
Before trying advanced solutions:
Restart your printer, router, and computer/phone.
Check the WiFi light:
Solid blue: Connected
Blinking blue: Setup mode
Off: Not connected
Disconnect any USB cable, as it can prevent wireless setup.
Place the printer close to the router during setup.
If the printer isn't showing up in HP Smart, it may have exited setup mode.
Touchscreen HP printers:
Go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Defaults and confirm.
HP printers without a screen:
Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 3–5 seconds until the wireless light starts blinking.
Then open the HP Smart App and reconnect the printer.
If your printer still won't connect, perform a factory reset.
Note: If you use HP Instant Ink, resetting the printer may temporarily affect your subscription until the printer reconnects.
When the cartridge access door is open, simultaneously press and hold the Power button and the Wireless button on the printer for approximately 3 seconds. After the printer restarts, perform the setup of the printer with HP Smart again.
Many HP printers support only 2.4 GHz WiFi. If your phone is connected to a 5 GHz network, setup may fail.
Also avoid:
Guest WiFi networks
Public networks that require a browser login (hotels, airports, cafés)
If the printer has a solid blue WiFi light but still appears offline:
Remove the printer from your device.
Uninstall HP Smart.
Restart your computer.
Install the latest version of HP Smart and add the printer again.
Try resetting setup mode, connecting to a 2.4 GHz network, or reinstalling HP Smart for any issues you may be experiencing with your HP Printer Not Connecting to WiFi. If none of these steps solve the problem, then a factory reset may be necessary for hidden network issues and it will return your printer online in no time!
