Gina Russo

Gina Russo is a research fellow at L'Orientale University of Naples. In 2021, she obtained a binational doctoral degree in Linguistic Studies from the University of Salerno, jointly with the University of Tübingen (Germany). Her doctoral thesis focused on the semantic shift from the sense of indefinite quantity to the sense of Manner of certain Italian multi-word expressions. This academic path has enabled her to specialize in corpus linguistics, synchronic and diachronic analysis, grammaticalization phenomena, verbal aspect.

In October 2022, she obtained a research grant at the University of Insubria on heritage Philippine languages in Italy. The objective was to conduct interviews to understand the level of maintenance of Tagalog and any peculiarities in the construction of active and passive sentences. She engaged in field research and sociolinguistic analysis.

Throughout her academic and research journey, she has taught supplementary courses on general linguistics and language education.

Currently, she continues her research activity on heritage languages within the Filipino community.
