The three silver bricks at the bottom symbolizes the bricks that the island will be rebuilt with. The pigeon, in the same ore, embodies the name of the island. The wine-red besman at the top symbolizes the fishers that lived on the island. Blue symbolizes the water, silver symbolizes the princes and the red symbolizes the bad things that has happened to Pigeon Island.
The heraldic shield is the main symbol.
The blue background symbolizes, like in the heraldic shield, the water surrounding Pigeon Island, the bloodied cross embodies the bad things pigeon island has gone through. The arms in the white field was put there so the flag wouldn't be mistaken to be another nordic flag.
The flag is often diplayed without the arms.
The left supporter, a fisherman, embodies the fishermen who lived on pigeon island. The right supporter, a wodewose, embodies the wilderness on the island. The compartment of bricks symbolizes the bricks that the island will be rebuilt with.
The crown is the princely crown of Pigeon Island.
