Dividing Shapes: Mathematical Approaches to Equal Parts, Thursday August 21st, 6:00-7:00 PM

We’ve all seen puzzles that ask us to divide shapes into equal parts—but are there effective techniques for solving them? 

In this lecture, we’ll explore problem-solving strategies, clever shortcuts, and mathematical tools that make tackling these geometric challenges easier and more insightful.

We’ll also learn about self-similar shapes, or rep-tiles—shapes that can be subdivided into smaller copies of themselves.

Age range: we invite students entering grades 5-8 this fall.
