Check chiller flow and the temperature (:as of Jan 2025, it's setting on 5°C.)
Write the following information on the daily checksheet.
Sutherland weather for humidity, cloud, wind, times of sunset, sunrise, evening and morning twilights
ATLAS for sky monitor (see STH on the far right)
Camera Status on PRIME Quick Look Page (Outside / Local) for temperatures of top ring, mirror, center piece, dewar
'Data' tab in CCMain for camera pressure, ACADIA and detector temperatures, cryo1 and 2 power etc.
Check if
the air conditioner in the server room is working
the temperature in the room is maintained at 16℃
(the air pump is working)
Twist levers on the right picture to open the louvers. (Blue lights turn on.)
Turn off the air conditioner of the dome floor on PRIME02
(from browser tool for PRIME air conditioning (192.168.212.60/Index.aspx, usually accessed from PRIME02), set the number of UNIT ON OFF column to 1->0)
(Replace silica gel if necessary)
Check chiller flow and pressure
Check if the louvers are open
Move the telescope with the hand controller and stand it up so that it does not hit the handrail or other objects when moved remotely. (also take a towel if you had set the telescope in the rain-position the day before )
-> Don't forget to turn off Hand Control Mode on the hand controller!!! (otherwise it does not move remotely)
Execute the './telescopeM5' and './clientM5', IN THIS ORDER, in separate terminals on prime tel,
primetel:/home/develop/
If the weather is fine, execute the following command to open the dome via clientM5
o: Dome Control
5: slit open
Check the dome's opening through the monitoring camera
The network of Goddardpc2 is unstable for some reason as of Jan 2025, so we currently reboot the machine everyday.
To reboot and make it ready for observation,
Exit CCMain
File (top left tab) ->Exit
Reboot Goddard PC2 from the power button in the lower left corner
Perform the following operations for each workspace
Workspace1
Confirm plasma is running and reset PID.
Fill in the setpoint temperature
Check the box marked 'Enable' -> 'Update' -> 'Reset PID' operation to keep the detector temperature stable at the setpoint
Workspace2 (See 'How to use CCMain' for a detailed explanation)
Open 'web-relay' in Google chrome.
Start CCMain
Click the dome icon on the taskbar.
Filter homing
After click 'Filter Wheel' tab,
Inner Wheel -> Home, Outer Wheel -> Home
Reinitialize detector connection
After click 'Detector' tab
Reconnect (Check Miniconda)-> Re-init
(Cygwin:$ python CheckDailySpecificTime.py )
workspace1
Kill the following processes using Ctrl + C and execute it again.
For ds9 : (@prime01:/prime01_DB/work/iona/)
python auto_ds9_prime_ramp.py
python auto_ds9_prime_stack.py
For logs : (@prime01:/prime01_DB/work/LOG/ )
ramp log : tail -f Ramp_LOG/ ramp_fit_log_yyyy-mm-dd.dat
reduction log : tail -f Stack_LOG/stack_fit_log_yyyy-mm-dd.dat
FWHM log : tail -f Stack_FWHM/fwhm_fit_log_yyyy-mm-dd.dat
auto log : (@xion1:/home/nagai/obslog/tool/)
python auto_log_gui.py
workspace2
Check if the pipeline tools are running.
(copy_rpc.py and ramp_fit.py should be running for each chip.)
Click the cross button in the upper right corner and press the '強制終了' button.
Click the 'ドーム(Dome)' tab and check '連動中(it is synchronizing)' .
(The status light is green during synchronization and red otherwise.)
If not, press the "Synchronization button".
Open the mirror cover from ClientM5.
d : Mirror Cover OPEN
-> Check with monitoring camera and the sound.
Click the 'Telescope' tab.
"Connected” is not lighting green.
Change the 'Mode' section in the upper right corner of the screen from "User" to "Engineering".
Change the “Telescope” tab from the upper left to the “Engineering” tab in the upper middle of the screen.
Click on "Reconnect"
"Connected” is lighting green.
Click the 'Filter Wheel' tab.
From 'Wheel to Home', select the "OuterWheel" and click “Home” below it.
Do the same for the 'InnerWheel'.
If “Homed” in the lower left corner of the screen lights up green, it is OK.
Also, check if “Connected” is lighting green.
Click the 'Detector' tab
Check if "Connected” in the upper right corner of the screen is lighting green. (the left picture is when it is.)
If not
“Reconnect” and then “Re-int Detectors”.
(The following is the Miniconda screen at that time.)
Try again.
Click 'Observations' tab in CCMain.
Click 'Load Observation List' and select the script from the "Observation List" file in the Windows Explorer.
When you want to take images for dark and NLC.
callibration.csv
When you want to take flat images
flat.csv
and so on...
Select the target queue and click “=>Add to Q” at the top to add it to the "CC Observation Queue GUI" in a separate window.
Pressing “▷ Run” at the top of the GUI executes the observation.
If multiple queues are selected (shift+click), they will all be added.
When "Auto Step" is checked, observations will proceed sequentially starting from the top.
“◻️ Stop” button terminates the observation in the middle of the process.
Change the value in the "Position" field and click the '▷move' button.
Wait a few seconds, and the focus value will be updated.
The current focus value is displayed in the 'Focus Position' section at the bottom-right of the left panel.
Star image size at the best focus is 3~4 pix (seeing=1.4~2.0").
Move to 'Detector' tab
Press “▷Get Image” in the center of the screen to acquire images without moving the telescope position.
Observers should be aware of the following PRIME data flow.
In particular, when deleting data with manual_remover*.pl, check once by yourself whether the data (or its compressed data) is properly copied downstream.
Close the mirror cover and the dome slit from clientM5
e : mirror cover close
o : Dome Control ->6 : Slit Close
Twist the levers on the right picture to close the louvers. (red lights should turn on.)
Turn off the air conditioner of the dome floor on PRIME02

prime02 : root@prime02:/export/do_backup # sh backup.sh
primetel : root@primetel:/export/do_backup # sh backup.sh
Run the following 'manual remover' commands.
<Goddard PC2>
@xion1:/home/prime/work/iona/observe perl manual_removerG2.pl
(Always do this after copy_rpc.py has finished copying the day's observation data.)
<xion*>
@xion1:/home/prime/work/iona/observe perl manual_removerX1.pl
@xion2:/home/prime/work/iona/observe perl manual_removerX2.pl
@xion3:/home/prime/work/iona/observe perl manual_removerX3.pl
@xion4:/home/prime/work/iona/observe perl manual_removerX4.pl
When storage is under pressure, delete data.
Check if fpack is completed before the next day's observation.
Execute the following command to move telescope to the finish position from clientM5.

Check if the louvers are close
Adjust the telescope position
If it rains tomorrow, set the telescope in the rain-position
Place a towel over the mirror cover of the telescope and move the dome slit to a position directly above the towel.
Keep in Hand Control mode to prevent remote operation.
Check for bird droppings and other objects
Put the command 0(zero) :End -> 0 (zero) via clientM5
