Court Singers (non-auditioned/open to all students)

The Court Singers are our extra curricular ensemble comprised of Freshman-Seniors of all voice types. This group will rehearse 1x per week for 30 minutes, and those with conflicts may learn the music on their own if they have to miss some of our rehearsals. 

Students will ad-lib act and serve the meal to our guests, performing as the servants in the king's castle during the Madrigal Dinner. This is a high reward experience with a low time commitment that all students should consider during their years at PR. It is also a great way to invite friends who aren't in our daily curricular choirs to come and give choir a try.

Madrigal Actor (Auditions open to all students)

The Madrigal Actors are open to all PRHS students, with auditions happening on Thursday, Sept 7th from 3-4:30pm. Students can sign-up for an audition slot on the board outside of the choir room (N202) starting the first day of school. Auditions are comprised of a monologue which is to be prepared (preferably memorized) linked below.

Those cast will be responsible for memorizing their lines on their own and participating in group rehearsals that are usually help before school (late start Mondays with a few student led "at home rehearsals" during Oct/Nov. The students who write the script serve as the initial blocking directors, with Mr. Jensen adjusting as needed when we move into the performance space during Tech Week. Those cast as actors will be fitted for a costume which will be provided by the school. Roles typically include the King, Queen, Jester, Wench, Prince &/or Princess, Suitor, and two Heralds.

Madrigal Singers (Auditions open to soph - seniors by audition)

The Madrigal Singers are the top extra-curricular ensemble at PRHS and are open to sophomore, juniors and seniors via audition in April/May of the preceeding year. Students must first pass a pre-screening audition for our curricular ensembles, proving to have the requisite skills to make our top curricular choir (A Cappella Choir). Those students not currently in a curricular choir but wishing to audition for the Madrigal Singers should meet with the choir director no later than Spring Break of the preceeding year if they with to undertake the audition process.

Students selected for this ensemble agree to participate in two phases of summer camp (May & August), memorize 25-32 songs, and commit to weekly rehearsals throughout the Fall. Complete rehearsal schedule can be found on the Fine Arts Calendar with performance dates listed below.
