Welcome to the PRHS Choral Department! You are part of a family with 27 years of history and incredible musical accomplishments, with the opportunity and responsibility to add your voice to the thousands that have come before you.
I am excited to have the opportunity to be making music with you once again. The unique and vital set of skills and abilities each of you possesses can be challenged and honed with intention and dedicated individual practice as we work toward creating the greatest collective sound possible. This fall we will continue to focus on improving our individual tone, production, resonance, and musical intelligence with the goal of performing combining those independent skills with balance and nuance in our traditional concert series (Oct,Dec,Mar,May).
If you are interested (or very bored) I've included a little bit about myself below and I hope that over the next year(s) you will afford me the privilege of getting to know you, and allowing me to push and encourage you toward greater and greater levels of artistic growth. Java with Jensen will be instituted this year and I intend to meet with every one of you at least once during first semester when you have a free period. Drop in for coffee or hot chocolate, and tell me about your goals, dreams, and ways in which our fine arts team can support you on your high school journey. Connection to one another is more important than every before, and I'll put together a schedule for us to meet during a free period or before/after school if no other class periods will work. We will also plan fun group events along the way, and kick-start "Friday Fry-days" with the support of our fine arts parents.
I'm excited for the opportunity to pursue excellence in choral artistry, build musical skills, and I intend to make this year as fun as possible! Share new music with me, use the choir/band room and hallway as your home away from home, and make as many new friends as possible!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jensen
