You certainly are not. You will be expected to update the same sections you did for your ADS Annual Update and more for your site visit.
Updating your ADS can be broken into two sections:
Reviewing/Updating all information in ADS
Uploading Supporting Documents
Click here if you'd like to skip to Section 2: Uploading Supporting Documents. The slides below will focus on Section 1: Reviewing/Updating all information in ADS
Section 1 - Reviewing/Updating all information in ADS
Hmmm...where is that other great resource the Accreditation Team made to help me complete the ADS Annual Update? Linked here, of course.
Use the "Completing the ACGME ADS Annual Program Update" Site linked above to help you review and update your ADS information.
!! The three sections below are not explicitly discussed in the site above; however, the "Writing Effective Narrative Responses" module and the tips below will ensure you give an A+ performance for these remaining ADS sections.
A. Mission and Aims
B. Diversity
C. Independent Practice
A. Mission and Aims
Locating the Mission and Aims section
In ADS, hover your mouse over the "Program" tab and click "View Program."
Scroll down the section titled "Program Profile," and hit "Edit Info." Review and, if necessary, update the "Mission Statement" and "Program Aims" subsections.
2. How do I know I have filled out this subsection properly?
If your program's Mission and Aims section answers the following questions, then you are set!
What is your vision of YOUR ideal program?
!! Double-Check: Look at your program’s description on your website—is it aligned with your vision?
Are your program aims actionable and measurable?
Are the aims current and relevant each year ?
B. Diversity
This subsection follows the "Mission and Aims" subsection in ADS. When you click to edit the "Mission and Aims," you can simultaneously edit the "Diversity" subsection.
Once again, the best way to fill in this section is by incorporating SMART goals into your response.
What is a SMART goal? Look here!
Check out the resource library for helpful videos, articles and best practices on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
C. Independent Practice
!!Good news. You can skip this section. This does not apply to any UB Programs.
Still curious about what it is, read below:
The term independent practice applies only to fellowship programs, and is defined in the Common Program Requirements as a category that allows fellows to practice in their primary (core) specialty up to 20 percent of their time. More details can be found under the “The Pandemic and Program Requirements” heading in the ACGME’s COVID-19 FAQs.
Pro Tip: Take care of each section's grammar and mechanics. Attention to detail and well-organized responses convey your professional accountability to the program's success to the site visitor and Review Committee.
