Morning Announcements

Incorporate these weekly Morning Announcement messages in person or virtually to regularly promote a socially inclusive school climate. Classroom teachers can follow up by guiding a group discussion about each announcement and having students write or draw a response in their journals. 

This activity is a great way to pair up students with and without intellectual disabilities to read the announcements together. 

Example: The Greenlodge School in Dedham, MA created their own series of morning announcements during their Autism Acceptance week, and one of the days, read the story "Since We're Friends" by Celeste Shally over the loud speaker. "Since We're Friends" is one of the books you will find in our Unified Young Readers Guide.
