Jun Abe

Composer / Arranger / Keyboardist

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1968. Influenced by his mother, a piano teacher, Abe began playing keyboard instruments at the age of three. During junior high school, he also played trumpet in the school wind ensemble, developing a broad musical foundation from an early age.

After moving to Tokyo in 1992, he began working professionally at the forefront of Japan’s J-Pop, jazz, and fusion scenes, contributing to numerous recording sessions and concert tours.

Today, he is a member of CASIOPEA, one of Japan’s most renowned fusion bands. At the same time, his musical activities extend far beyond genre boundaries, including composing and arranging for a wide range of artists, creating music for films and other visual media, and collaborating with international artists from countries including the United States, Thailand, and China.

As a solo artist, Abe has also recorded in Los Angeles and New York. Through his latest album, Walk Around, and throughout his career, he continues to pursue a sophisticated and distinctive sound with a truly global perspective.

I am very much looking forward to sharing music at Shosanji, a historic temple and truly special place.

For more than 1,200 years, this sacred place has carried the prayers of countless people. As a musician, I feel it will be a rare and meaningful experience to perform in an atmosphere so different from that of a concert hall or live music venue.

Together with the wonderful artists joining this event and the musicians of Tokushima, I hope we can create and share music that could only be born on this particular day, in this particular place.

I hope you will join us at Shosanji this autumn and experience a special moment when the warm glow of the offering lanterns and music come together as one.
