SPACE-SUIT: Solar Phenomena Analysis and Classification using Enhanced vision techniques for SUIT. The aim of this work is to develop a feature detection system for the data acquired by the Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT), onboard Aditya-L1, India’s first solar mission positioned at the Lagrange Point 1 (L1). This system focuses on utilizing the instrument’s physical parameters to generate mock SUIT images, enabling thorough testing and validation before applying it to real mission data. The work is focused on creating robust detection system and self-validation unit to ensure accurate and reliable feature identification. The project’s scope required an in-depth understanding of SUIT’s specifications, image processing techniques, deep learning, computer vision and solar physics principles, making it a highly interdisciplinary effort.
The system has been fully developed and successfully tested on SUIT data, demonstrating its capability to meet the scientific objectives of the mission. A significant portion of this research was presented at the 42nd Meeting of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI), and the paper have been accepted and published the journal Solar Physics!
