Research Interests
In our laboratory, we are engaged in various studies related to the biodiversity of rural landscapes in Japan and the dynamics of its ecosystems, as well as their management. Our interdisciplinary research approach involves conducting fieldwork to observe plants and vegetation and conducting integrated analyses of information gathered through interviews with local residents, examination of old documents, maps, and other records.
Here are some examples,
・Revegetation dynamics of abandoned fields
・Biocultural diversity of demarcation woody plants in farmlands
・Lexico-statistical analysis of plant folk nomenclature
・Distribution of threatened plant species
・Consumers' visual marketing preferences
・Discovering unrecorded local plant usage
Message to students
Undergraduate students interested in the relationship between plants, vegetation, and humans are welcome. I also may be able to assist with other topics related to my expertise. If you're interested, feel free to contact me.
