INTERNATIONALIZATION
PPGCOMP
PPGCOMP internationalization summary
Internationalization is one of the strengths of the academic M.Sc. degree in computer science (PPGCOMP). The internationalization of PPGCOMP has been consolidated since the previous quadrennium and has always been an element in planning, the execution of goals, and the evolution of the program since its creation.
The internationalization of PPGCOMP's work is evidenced by consolidated results of international research projects in a network, by international agreements and partnerships, by the expressive participation and visibility of our researchers in international conferences and journals committees, by the organization of international events, by the coordination of Ph.D. in international partner institutions and bibliographic production with the participation of several partners from international institutions.
A summary of the evidence of the PPGCOMP internationalization process practiced by the set of 10 permanent professors of PPGCOMP in the period 2017 - 2020 is as follows:
A set of eight (08) international scientific awards and distinctions, highlighting five (05) best papers awards in the quadrennium.
Acting in networked international collaborative projects (INNOVACITY, InsighTD, Intelligent Financial Systems/Intelligent Financieros Systems, and prison data) with the development of research with the participation of masters, events, co-supervision of doctoral theses and master's dissertations, teacher mobility, software development, and bibliographic production in partnership.
Acting in close international partnerships with the universities HTW (Germany), ISCTE (Portugal), Universidad Nacional de Rosario (AR), Rutgers (US), and Instituto Politécnico de Bragança (Portugal) by researching in partnership, carrying out PosDoc by PPGCOMP professors, conducting mobility student and teacher, conducting joint international courses, co-supervising doctoral theses, and master's dissertations, attracting foreign researchers, and bibliographic production in partnership.
Professors Rodrigo Spínola, Joberto Martins, Glauco Carneiro, and Paulo Caetano have international recognition of published works evidenced by a significant volume of Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus citations.
Carrying out three post-doctoral internships (Milwaukee, Paris-Saclay, and Rutgers).
Expressive participation of PPGCOMP professors in technical program committees (TPCs) and the organization of high-impact international events. There were more than 40 individual participants in the quadrennium.
Student exchange with the Universities of Coimbra with undergraduate and master's students and HTW (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes) with undergraduate students in computing.
PPGCOMP professors with academic insertion in international institutions (Prof. Joberto Martins – International Professor of HTW (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes) – since 2004), co-supervision of master and doctoral degrees in international HEIs (Profs. Glauco Carneiro no. ISCTEL in Portugal, Prof. Paulo Sampaio at University of Madeira and Paulo Caetano at University of Coimbra in Portugal).
Participation in qualification and doctoral defense boards (in person) at institutions abroad (Prof. Joberto Martins – Rapporteur – Université Paris Saclay) and Paulo Sampaio (University of Madeira – Portugal).
Position or position of academic prestige recognized with the participation of Prof. Joberto Martins in the evaluation committee of research projects in the European community - EUC (Agence Nationale de la Recherche - ANR / French National Research Agency - Paris - Evaluation Committee Member - ANR CHIST-ERA ERA-NET's Call 2018 - SDCN: Smart Distribution of Computing in Dynamic Networks).
Professor Joberto Martins is in a prestigious academic position recognized on the IEEE Smart Cities and Smart Grid Committees (Member of the IEEE Smart Cities Technical Committee and Member of the IEEE Smart Grid Research Committee).
