The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is one of the most challenging pre-university programmes in the world. This course is widely accepted by top universities and employers globally.
The rigorous and demanding academic programme sees students studying six subject disciplines in addition to the core elements:
Study in Language & Literature (Language A)
Language Acquisition (Language B, or an additional Language A for the bilingual diploma)
Individuals & Societies (Humanities based subjects)
Sciences
Mathematics
Arts or Specialism (often a second Language, Humanities or Science)
Students will have 3 higher level subjects (HL) and 3 standard level subjects (SL). The Higher levels should be selected based upon what students are passionate about, can succeed in and want to study at university. It is important to remember that university offers are often made on the strength of the scores students achieve in their HL subjects.
At the centre of the IBDP is the study of the Core areas:
Theory of Knowledge
Extended Essay
Creativity, Activity, Service
These disciplines are mandatory for all diploma students in addition to their six subject areas and enable students to apply critical thinking and real-life application to their study, which often differentiates IBDP students from their counterparts studying A-Levels or other alternative post 16 programmes.
Students must select one subject from each block shown below.
As well as their 6 subjects, all students must also select TOK/DP Core (Homeroom class and ToK, EE, IA timetabled periods).
These option blocks shown below are customised to the requirements of the graduating class of 2026, and may be slightly altered depending on the specific requirements of each cohort.
