Abstract :
Human development, first conceptualized by Amartya Kumar Sen and Martha Nussbaum, is defined as the process of expanding people’s choices. The Human Development Index (HDI) plays a crucial role in shaping policies related to economic growth, employment, and quality of life. Although Central Kalimantan’s HDI has increased annually, progress remains slow. This study analyzes the effects of Life Expectancy (LE), Mean Years of Schooling (MYS), Expected Years of Schooling (EYS), and Per Capita Income (PCI) on HDI using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) models. Results show that MYS significantly influences HDI, while GWR achieves higher accuracy (99.93%) and identifies five spatial clusters with different determining factors, highlighting the importance of spatial approaches in understanding human development dynamics
