Exploring Tulungagung Regency in 3D: Terrain Visualization for Planning and Spatial Analysis
This map presents Tulungagung Regency through a 3D terrain perspective, offering a detailed visualization of the region’s diverse landscapes. From the mountainous areas in the north, through the central plains, to the southern coastal zone bordering the Indian Ocean, the map captures the complexity and variation of the natural terrain. The visualization is based on DEMNAS (National Digital Elevation Model) data provided by the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). Using QGIS and advanced stereometric techniques, the elevation data was processed to create a realistic three-dimensional representation of the region. This approach not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the map but also provides a more intuitive understanding of spatial relationships across the regency. By presenting the terrain in 3D, planners and researchers can better assess factors such as watershed dynamics, slope stability, and land suitability, supporting decisions related to regional planning, disaster mitigation, and natural resource management. Furthermore, this type of visualization makes it easier to identify patterns and challenges in land use, infrastructure development, and environmental conservation. Overall, 3D terrain mapping offers both a visual appreciation of Tulungagung’s landscapes and a practical tool for informed, sustainable, and strategic decision-making, bridging the gap between raw spatial data and actionable insights for local development.

"Traces of Urban Connectivity: Road Network Analysis in Sampit"
This map presents the results of an Urban Network Analysis (UNA) applied to the road network of Sampit City. By using graph theory, roads are represented as edges and intersections as nodes, allowing us to analyze the city’s street structure in a way that reveals patterns of connectivity, accessibility, and strategic significance of different locations across the urban landscape. In the context of Sampit’s urban environment, this analysis helps to understand how the street network affects daily mobility, traffic flows, and accessibility to key destinations such as markets, schools, and public services. The map highlights areas where movement is more efficient, as well as critical points that serve as major transit corridors or potential bottlenecks.
Three main indicators were used to capture these dynamics :
1.Degree : Reflects the efficiency of movement along streets with minimal detours or obstacles, showing how easily residents can navigate the city.
2.Closeness: Measures the relative accessibility of each location to all other points in the network, identifying which areas are most connected and reachable.
3.Betweenness: Identifies key nodes that frequently act as transit hubs or critical links in the flow of movement, indicating where congestion or strategic importance may occur.
Overall, this analysis provides insights into how Sampit’s road network shapes urban mobility, highlighting both opportunities for smoother travel and areas that may require planning interventions to improve connectivity and accessibility.
