Yogyakarta, 4 October 2025 - The concept of the 15-Minute City emphasizes the importance of compact, mixed-use urban environments where residents can access essential services—such as markets, schools, and recreational spaces—within a 15-minute walk or cycle. This approach aligns with the broader goals of sustainable urban planning, reducing dependency on motorized transport and encouraging human-scale mobility. Using isochrone analysis, this study evaluates pedestrian accessibility toward Pasar Keramat, a key traditional market in the urban area of Mentawa Baru Ketapang Subdistrict, Sampit. The analysis was conducted by modeling travel-time zones from the market center, with time thresholds of 5 to 120 minutes. Spatial visualization shows that the 5–15 minute walking zone covers the urban core, characterized by high population density and well-connected street networks. Beyond the 20-minute zone, accessibility rapidly decreases, particularly in peripheral areas with fragmented road structures and limited pedestrian pathways.
These findings highlight the need for integrated spatial planning that promotes walkable urban design, mixed land uses, and improved pedestrian infrastructure to achieve a more equitable and sustainable urban form. Strengthening local accessibility around urban service centers like Pasar Keramat not only enhances mobility efficiency but also supports the realization of 15-Minute City principles in small and medium-sized Indonesian cities.
