I've been thinking about her again: Lady Alessia from my first solo game Ray's Abandoned Arboretum. I'm still very proud of that game but I am considering making it a loooooong term passion project where I slowly (re)make the game to the standard I couldn't reach last time due to project restraints. So this was my foray into that! I did not have a lot of energetic free time this mote, so no heavy infrastructure laid in Unity yet.
What I have finished is a short illustrated scene from an atmospheric part of the narrative, where Ray follows Alessia through the castle to the 'key blade'. Not the kingdom heart reference, but a hung sword that will turn out to literally be the key to opening the portal so that Ray can go home. In this moment we see Alessia's melancholy as she misses who the sword belongs to and thinks wistfully back to how living was before she chose to be left behind.
The biggest challenge were the values and colors of the background, as I spend quite a few hours and layers on adjusting and overpainting. I was quite happy with the sketch and specifically the big shapes I used in the composition. I'm very happy with the little endresult :>
