Language concordance between patients and providers has been shown to reduce overall cost to the patient and minimize costs to hospitals. Additionally, around 64% of U.S. patients with limited English-speaking ability are either fluent in or natively speak Spanish. In this light, learning Spanish - no matter how fluent you may be - isn't just a method of socially connecting with patients. It's really an essential - yet overlooked - method of medical intervention in a state where nearly 40% of its residents are of Latinx origin. In light of all of this, we're proud to offer our Medical Spanish (MedSpa) series. Designed to introduce both novice and native speakers alike to the necessary medical terminology and linguistically-appropriate concepts for their future careers, this is something you surely won't want to miss if you're even considering a life in healthcare!
