Police Chase Guidelines
Give chase to the robbers, you are to follow the criminals only, and do not take any aggressive actions. You are to follow the criminals until they crash, give up, run out of gas, etc. If they run over and kill a pedestrian, all bets are off, since public safety is a priority; if they kill an NPC you have to bring the chase to an end at all costs, including opening fire on their tires, using your vehicle as a ram (Even if your not P.I.T certified) DO NOT SHOOT TO KILL as they ran a NPC over with their car, you are to bring the suspects in alive. If they crash into an NPC car, its ok, they survived, continue to follow the pursuit. The way to bring non aggressive criminal chase to an end, is to deploy spike strips ahead, or perform a P.I.T.
P.I.T - Only to be used by trained and qualified officers ONLY! Only P.I.T Certified Police Officers can perform this manouver. What is P.I.T? It stands for Pursuit Intervention Technique. This is when the suspect is actively fleeing at high or lower speeds during a chase, in a safe area, the Certified P.I.T Officer taps the rear corner bumper of the criminal's vehicle to send them spinning and crashing. P.I.T can be used on non aggressive criminals to try and bring the chase to a stop.
Criminals become aggressive, they start ramming police cars, and you can ram them back. DONT SHOOT!!!!
Criminals become aggressive, they run over a police officer who's on foot, and police may open fire on the suspects. NOTE: Any officer who is on foot, and a suspect vehicle is racing towards them to run them over, the police may open fire to defend their life.
Criminals become aggressive, they open fire on police, police can return fire, ram the vehicles, and it is now a fight to eliminate the criminals or bring them to justice.
Criminals become aggressive, they shoot an NPC, they just killed an NPC at will, you must eliminate the threat with any force necessary.
