New Player Guide
While on the server, if I haven’t met you before, I may pop by to greet you and answer any questions you may have, and then leave you alone. From there, you’re welcome to reach out if you need anything.
If you’re anti-social that’s fine, but I do like to welcome all new players to my home as you are my guest, so do expect for me to say hello at least once. I will approach you to welcome you. – Pole_Ice
Technical Stuff: Extended Texture Budget
In order to take full advantage of your computer, you'll need to do some tweaks to take full advantage of FiveM. Remember this is a MOD and doesn't come fully setup out of the box and there are a few things you need to do to ensure a smooth gaming experience.
First we will show you how to extend your texture budget, without it, you'll drive around the server for a short while then nothing will load in, let's fix that.
Go to your Pause Menu > Settings > Graphics > Extended Texture Budget > Increase is until the bar at the top becomes yellow, just like the image below:
Technical Stuff: Setting your game to run on your GPU (Graphics Card), by default, FiveM uses your CPU
Falling through the map while driving fast? Buildings not loading right? FiveM Might be running fully on your CPU instead of your GPU.
On Windows 11, at the search bar next to the windows button, Search for "Settings".
Click on System at the top of the list.
Now click on Displays at the top.
Scroll down until you find Graphics.
Now click "Add Desktop App", and add your FiveM.exe to the list.
Now you'll have options for FiveM, be sure to set it to Performance.
Restart FiveM, and you're done.... Welcome to a much better gameplay experience!
On Windows 10, in the search bar next to the windows button, Search for Graphics, and click on "Graphics Settings".
You'll immediatey see a Browse button, click that and find your FiveM.exe file.
Now click on FiveM, and click on Options, then Select High Performance.
Restart FiveM, and you're done.... Welcome to a much better gameplay experience!
Note: This trick works for any applications you wish to use your GPU instead of your CPU... like OBS for example, or any other games you're not sure if it's using your GPU or not. Have fun optmizing your system!!! :D
The Basics:
Congratulations, you’re on the server! What next? We need to take care of your character. You’ll notice you have a hunger and thirst bar at the bottom left of your screen. I will show you in just a moment how to take care of those.
What is nice about the HUD, is that you have many options. If you press F6, this will allow you to move your HUD items to your liking. Just click and Drag. For items you wish to hide, just click on the eyeball icon next to that item, and it will not display on your HUD. When done, press F6 again to exit.
This isn't the holy setting for your HUD, after you're done moving things around, you can customize your hud even further by pushing F7. Go through all the options and perfect the HUD to your liking.
Next, you’ll need to configure your voice options.
Setting Your Voice:
You’ll need to Pause the game, and in your pause menu hit Settings, then Voice Chat on the left
First you’ll notice your voice chat is OFF. Be sure to toggle this to ON.
Once on, be sure to configure your Output Device to the Speakers/Headset you’ll be using.
Also be sure to enable your Microphone, and be sure to configure your Input Device to the microphone you’ll be using to talk in the game.
Once done you can leave the pause menu. Default Push to talk key is N. If you wish to not use Push to Talk you can change the Voice Chat Mode to Voice Activated. But we suggest Push to Talk so we don’t hear every noise you make on the server to not bother anyone else you might be playing with.
To change the keybind for Push to Talk, go to Settings, then Key Bindings, then GTA Online.
Getting your first ride: – CALL A TAXI FIRST!
When starting, your first instinct is to steal a car. You’ll notice that you’re going to have a hell of a time doing so as all the cars are LOCKED and you will NOT be able to jack a car.
Call a Taxi! Open your chat by pushing T, then type the command /taxi. An AI Taxi will spawn and come pick you up. The taxi may take a few minutes to arrive. To see where it’s at, you can look at your map and see where the green taxi icon is.
When the AI Taxi arrives, hop in the back seat by going to the rear of the vehicle, then push F. If you attempt to steal the taxi, you might get an ass whooping from the driver.
Once inside the Taxi, for it to move, you’ll need to place a GPS marker on your MAP, to do so you just left click on the map. To start the taxi, type /taxigo. To make it go faster type /taxifast. Head to one of the two dealerships that are in pink on the map. The taxi will take you to wherever you need to go and will follow traffic laws on the way to your destination. You can call the taxi anytime and be sure that you’re close to a road when you call it. If you ever end up crashing your personal vehicle and you’re stuck out in the middle of nowhere, this taxi can come get you, so you don’t have to walk miles to get to a garage or impound lot.
Seatbelt: Hear that annoying beeping noise after getting in the car? Hit B to put on your seatbelt! Remember to take your seatbelt off when arriving at your destination to be able to exit the car.
How much money do you have? Your cash and bank balances will be displayed on your HUD
Enter the dealership and stand next to a car, or head to the Vehicle Showroom icon.
Purchasing A Car: At this moment, you cannot afford an expensive vehicle. For your first car, I suggest going into the COMPACTS category and then selecting something cheap for a starter car.
Once you select the car, click Purchase. (NOTE: You can also head to another car dealership and explore their options too. The PDM (Postal 8167) and the DLC (Postal 916) car dealerships around the map do have at least 1 vehicle you can purchase from the start. Look at the map for the other Dealerships.)
Postal System: If you see a postal code on the map you want to go to, simply type /postal ####... for for example if I want to head up to the DLC Dealership at postal 8167, I would type /postal 8167. If I wanted to clear my Postal GPS, simply repeat the command without the number, so it would be /postal to clear.
Congratulations! You now own a car! Now lets get some food and drinks!
Convenience Store: 24/7 Supermarket
Head to your nearest convenience store to grab you some food and drinks.
Once at your location, take your seatbelt off with B. Once you have exited your vehicle, DO NOT FORGET TO LOCK YOUR CAR! Once out of your car, press L to lock it.
Once inside, walk up to the store clerk and Push “E” on them to open their menu.
(NOTE: If you’re at a player-owned store, use your “THIRD EYE” by holding Left ALT, then right-click to activate your mouse, then left-click on the menu. To purchase items there just follow the menu prompts.)
To purchase items, simply drag from items from the Supermarket Inventory to your inventory. But wait a minute it doesn’t work?! Why?! Don’t forget to put a number in the “amount” field to chose how many you want to buy! For example I’m going to buy 5 sandwiches and waters. Then drag and drop into your inventory.
You may want to grab some bandages too in case you injure yourself and need to heal.
When done exit with ESC.
Accessing your Inventory:
To open your inventory, push TAB. Now you can see what’s on your person. The numbers at the top correspond to the keys on your keyboard as quick item keys. Place items you wish to place in your quick slots. Then to use those items without having to open your inventory you can push those keys. If the items arent on those quick slots, to use them, you can either double click the item, or drag and drop it onto the “USE” button.
Once you’ve drank and eaten your sandwich you’ll notice the hunger and third icons disappear. Unlike other servers, this server the hunger and thirst rates are set pretty low so you don’t have to worry too often about eating and drinking.
Congratulations! Now you know how to shop and use items! Be sure to visit other types of those around the map like hardware stores, etc. Now let’s get back to our car… remember to unlock it with L before you hop back in. And put your seatbelt on with B.
To change the radio station, type /radio to access your mouse cursor, then choose your type of Radio. Type /hideradio to close the player.
You'll see 3 icons, a Music Folder, a Radio Icon and the Youtube Icon.
Music Folder: Add links to hosted MP3 files.
Radio Icon: Listen to GTA 5 Radio Stations.
Youtube: Enter Youtube Links to Youtube Videos.
Playlist: Just keep adding links and it'll build a playlist.
Also, most TVs work in the city. Just walk up to a TV and type /tv, and you'll get a menu like this one where you can copy/paste youtube links and enjoy watching shows with your friends! Also most vehicles are equiped with a TV as well where you can watch TV while in your car!
Fueling up your vehicle: Go to a gas station, and pull up close enough to a gas pump until you get the notification on the right side of your screen to exit the vehicle to refuel. Try to pull up to the pump on your passenger side so you don’t have a hard time getting in and out of your car. Exit your car, then walk between your car and the fuel pump until you get the prompt to start fueling your vehicle. The Push E to fill up. Then a menu will pop up, to fill up completely select “To Complete” then it will advise how much it will cost to fill up.
Fixing your vehicle:
Terrible driver? No worries! Let’s get this fixed! Head to a Self Serve Mechanic on the map:
Self Serve Locations:
Postal 9181 in LS
Postal 4025 in Harmony
Postal 1012 Paleto Bay
Player-owned locations are as follows: (Owner names displayed at the shop, contact on Discord for appointments if not online)
Auto Exotic
LSB Imports
Stop Car
Bennys
Hayes Auto Body
Tuner Shop
BaySide Customs
Pent Garage
LS Customs Downtown
When pulling into a repair shop that you can use yourself, you’ll just pull into the shop and push E and a menu will come up to be able to fix your car and modify your car.
Why have player-owned shops? They will have access to much better parts if you want your vehicle to go faster. Also most of their services will be cheaper too!
Get a Job – Make some money!
To get a job head over to City Hall (City Services) at Postal 7248. To place a marker to postal 7248, open the chat with T, then type /postal 7248, and this will place a marker to that postal. Once you have arrived, if the postal marker doesn’t clear, just type /postal and it will clear the marker.
When driving around, you’ll notice each street has a speed limit. Speed at your own risk. If the police catch you speeding, you might get pulled over and have to RP with the Police. This is the only mandatory RP on the server is when Emergency Services interact with you, you must RP with them (Police/Fire/EMS).
Once you’ve arrived, be sure to visit the right desk and visit the lady there. She usually never pays attention to you and is always on her Facebook on her phone. Oh well, generation these days am I right? Once at the desk, Push E. Once open, click Employment.
Apply up to 5 jobs as your Multi Job can hold up to 5 jobs at a time.
If you wish to do a different job but you already have 5 jobs loaded in your Multi Job (J), you’ll have to delete a job from your list in order to fit in a new one. Please note, some jobs you may get promoted in and get a higher rank if the Boss of that job gives you a promotion. If you remove a job you got promoted to, you’ll lose that promotion rank. Be sure to keep the jobs for which you’ve received a promotion.
Once you have applied for 5 jobs, hit ESC to exit.
To view your jobs and select the one you wish to do, hit (J), this will bring up your multi Job menu at the right side of your screen. Then click the icon that looks like a tie.
Click Select on the job you want, then click On Duty.
Hit ESC to exit. Now to make sure you selected the right job, open chat with T, then type /job. This will display the job you’re on, and if you’re on duty.
If you’re not on duty, push J to open your job menu, click the Tie Icon, and click On Duty for your selected Job. Then ESC to get out, and type /job again to check.
Storing your vehicle:
To store your vehicle, be sure to visit one of the garage markers on the map, drive up to it then you’ll get a prompt to store your vehicle, push E and done..
To bring out your vehicle, you can visit ANY garage on the map, walk up to the garage icon on the map, you'll see the menu on the side advising you to Push E to access the garage and take your vehicle out. If your vehicle is not in the garage, visit the impound lot. To find the impound lot on the map, you can just simply scroll down the icons on the right side until you find the impound lot.
If you ever loose your vehicle in the water, or is blown up, you'll have to wait until the next daily server restart to get your vehicle back. Don't fret you're vehicle isn't lost forever.
To take your vehicle out, select the vehicle you want, then click DRIVE to spawn. If the vehicle isn't currently at the garage you're at, you can transfer it from any other garage for $500.
Chatting with Players:
Super easy, just push T to open the chat window, and just type what you want to say and push enter!
Another way to chat is with /me then your message, this will only display text above your head for players near you to see instead of server-wide. Example: /me hi there!
Phone Management:
So we have a cool phone! To open the phone you can push M on your keyboard, or double click it in your inventory, or push the keyboard number associated with the quick slots at the top of your inventory if you've placed your phone in a quick slot.
And it does require a little care. First, you'll notice that your phone's battery life isn't the best. This is where you'll want to visit any of the Digital Den locations to purchase a battery pack for your phone, there are 2, one at Postal 8211, and one at Postal 792 in Roxwood County. You can locate the icon as the Purple Store icons.
When inside the shop be sure to purchase the "power bank." You can also purchase a variety of other phones and phone cases, get whatever you like.
Then it is important to place your phone and power bank in specific slots in your inventory for it to work properly. Place your phone in quick slot 1, and your power bank in quick slot 2. And to keep your phone charged, just simply press 2 on your keyboard.
There will come a time where you notice your phone is acting weird, the screen is just going black and your power bank isn't doing the job anymore. DO NOT WORRY!!! This isn't a bug, it's a feature.
This just means that your battery bank has gone bad. You can get it fixed by visiting Lester to fix your power bank, or you can simply purchase a new one.
AFK Farming or Going AFK: Please go to the designated area to AFK. The reason for this is if people AFK in busy parts of the city, this can cause Traffic AI issues due to the AI Traffic being spawned in by clients. We've had issues where people would AFK in the city near busy areas and it made those area almost undriveable as the traffic was lagging all over the place. Please go to Postal 10116 to AFK
Congratulations! You have finished the New Player Guide! For job Tutorials, check out the Jobs and Activities Page.
Also, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you visit the Command and Controls page as well to learn the commands and controls of the server… don’t know how to open your phone? Please check this page to find out how!
The server is always under development for the better. Please do not hesitate to contact us on Discord with any questions about anything within the server. Feel free to use the General Chat in the RelaxedRP Information 5M section. As you can see we do not have tutorials for everything yet, and we’re not in any hurry to get all of them done at once either… we’re working on one of them at a time, and just like the Relaxed Atmosphere on the server, so it the development. This is a passion project and we’re happy that you’re here to enjoy it with us 🙂
