The Youth Ministry of PLMC conducted our first Prayer and Worship Night Online over Zoom on 8 May 2020. The theme of the night was “Secret Place”, inspired by Ps 62:1-2, “Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.”
We wanted to encourage all youths to continue to seek God in our secret places as worship is not limited to within a church service or worship hall.
Here are some testimonies from our Prayer and Worship Night Online:
I think that prayer and worship was really good and it was a good experience for me. I thought that it was a good time where I could just spend time with God. It was very soothing. When I shared (prayed for a friend whom we were called to pray for), the only motive that pushed me was “hey this guy works with me and he's always been helping me so I wanna pray for him and help him too.” I was very nervous and I kept shaking but I really enjoyed worship night. – Zachaeus Tan, 16
I really appreciated being able to have the prayer and worship night even if it is online! It gave me a chance to be able to really worship the Lord with my friends from church. Throughout this circuit breaker period, I haven’t set aside much time to just thank God for all the things He has done for my family, friends and I, like keeping us safe. I also felt like I was a bit distant from God as we can’t go to the physical church, but after the prayer and worship night, it enlightened me that we can worship and just praise Him anytime and anywhere. even though it was definitely different from doing it in person, I still felt as if I was there in church with all my friends praising Him in person! I also really want to thank the worship team for doing an excellent job! - Kelly Chai, 16
I think prayer and worship night was a really raw experience (even compared to sessions in the Haven) because only one person could do instruments/vocals at a time but it brought a new meaning to worship I guess! It really made me cherish worshipping at home/alone more, and it was kinda our declaration that nothing can stop us from worshipping and spending time with the Lord, even if we are separated. it was just a really, really good time of soaking in God's presence with everyone else! - Timothy Tay, 18
Worship night one was a new experience as I didn't really know what to expect and it was very heart-warming because before worship night I was not in the best mood to worship and I really didn't want to join in the first place. However, I felt that God was leading me on to go for it. Worship night has always been an amazing experience and that day was no different. I could really feel that all of us were worshiping under one roof (despite not being in the same building). tt didn't feel like we were connected through a screen. Worship night really made me forget everything and helped me to surrender everything to Him. Everything felt calm and it's something I haven't been feeling for a long time. - Amos Ng, 16
It was really cute and heart-warming to see so many people together even when this was something new to everyone. I would say it was well-planned and there was a smooth transition! - Jerie Goh, 20
Prayer and Worship Night was amazing for me! Ever since COVID-19 measures started kicking in and we weren't able to have service for youth and had to attend adult service, even though I was still worshipping and going to church, I felt like my relationship with God became a little strained. But during Prayer and Worship Night, I felt like God was using it to touch me and to reconnect with me. He also used it to show me that this pandemic does not restrict me from His love and His relationship with me. One of the songs I felt was sort of a personal message to me which was "All I Need Is You". It reminded me that I should leave all my fears and doubts behind and that I only need Him. I felt that even though it was online, it was still enjoyable and to see us still gathering as a Youth Ministry was heart-warming. – Sharlyn Kok, 14
It was cool to see Prayer and Worship Night done online and I thought it was pulled off very well because even though it was online I could connect quite well to the worship and the prayer. - Jessie Choo, 15
Actually it's been quite a while since I've worshipped the Lord and I haven't been connecting with Him lately, so it was quite refreshing and comforting to be in His presence again, even though it was a bit difficult to worship because it wasn't held in church. During the Prayer & Worship Night, I also felt led to read the bible. I read Hebrews 11:1 which I thought was very apt especially during this COVID-19 period and also in my personal life :) it reminded me to place my trust in God and that He has a great plan in store for me! It was quite a good experience but I miss having worship in church because there are less distractions, which allows me to focus on God easier! - Amanda Wong, 17
Prayer and Worship Night was really great especially considering the current situation. I think it was pulled off really well online! I really enjoyed the prayer segment though I was hoping it’d be a bit longer cause it’s nice to hear others praying and feel that sense of community especially when we’re all at home but it was a really great experience overall! - Rebecca Lam, 16
I joined the Zoom session a bit later because I had something on during the earlier part but I really felt God’s Presence throughout the whole time that I joined and it was really beautiful. I also didn’t expect that there would be so many people since it was the first time Prayer and Worship Night was held on Zoom but I was really encouraged that so many people took their time off to intentionally set aside that time for God! it was a very blessed time! – Victoria Yeo, 16
