Introduction

Rev Edmund Chan is the Leadership Mentor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church and Founder, Global Alliance of Intentional Disciple Making Churches.

Pastor Chan has a twin passion in ministry — expository preaching and leadership mentoring. After leading as the Senior Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church (CEFC) for 25 years, Edmund implemented a successful leadership-succession plan in January 2012. Now as the Leadership Mentor of CEFC as well as Founder of Global Alliance of Intentional Disciple Making Churches (Global Alliance IDMC), he continues to mentor top-level leaders within Singapore and beyond. These include CEOs, senior pastors and denominational leaders, theological educators as well as national and regional directors of para-church organizations.

He has written and published several books, including Growing Deep in God (2002); Mentoring Paradigms (2008); Growing Deep In Faith (2010); Cultivating Your Inner Life (2011); A Certain Kind (2013), Radical Discipleship (2014), Life & Legacy (2015), Discipleship Missions (2016), Faith & Fire (2018) and Grace & Glory (2021).

Pastor Chan is married to Ann, who actively ministers alongside him around the world. They have two lovely daughters, Amanda and Belicia.

PRAYER FOCUS

OUTREACH

Dearest friends and co-labourers of God,

I greet you in the Name of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Please pray along with me:

O God our Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are a God who hears our prayers. We praise You as a living God who only wants what is best for all that You have created – for those of us who are privileged to be in Your Kingdom, and also for those who have yet to receive and enter Your Kingdom. We pray, O God, for all the people whom we are serving and ministering to in the Community.

We pray that the children and teachers in Hope Student Care Centre will be able to find some rest and recreation during the June school holidays. We know that they have been working hard prior to this. We also know that those who will be taking their PSLE this year will start to get very busy after these holidays. So, we humbly ask that You give them times of refreshing. We pray especially that You watch over them when they spend time going on excursions and recreational activities. We pray that when they come to church for their day-camp, they will be filled with an awareness of You and of Your Son Jesus Christ. Help our co-workers to show them Your love as we spend time together for the first time in such a long while! Thank You for this opportunity, Heavenly Father.

We also pray for the B12 Youths. They, too, are having their school holidays now, and we ask that You also give them times of refreshing and rejuvenation. Some of them will have to face the pressure of doing their ‘O’-level exams after the holidays. We ask that You give them peace and serenity. Help us to show them that they can find strength and courage in You to face the exam.

We pray for the needy families in Blk 223A Serangoon Ave 4, Blk 8 Lor Lew Lian, and in Blks 201-210 Serangoon Central. We pray that as we continue to bring them their breakfasts and the essential food items, their hearts will be softened enough to want to receive and enter Your Kingdom. We thank You for those in Blk 8 who have responded to Your love and who have come to our church services. We ask that the Holy Spirit continues to open their hearts even more so that they will acknowledge with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead. We desire that they find the salvation that You are so graciously giving to them.

We also pray for our homeless and rough-sleeper friends, Heavenly Father. We complain when it gets too hot, and we also complain when it rains. Forgive us for complaining, O God, and help us to remember that our friends don’t even have proper homes to shelter them from the weather. We ask that as they find their own nooks and crannies to live in, that You will protect them from the weather conditions and that You will help them to find the rest that they need at night. We pray for compassion to overflow in the hearts of our co-workers who visit them and minister to them – that they will show them the love that Jesus showed to the downtrodden in His day. By this show of love, we pray that our friends will know that we are Jesus’ disciples.

We pray all these things in Your Son Jesus Christ’s most holy and precious name. Amen!
