The week of Prayer & Self Denial (WPSD) starts from 8 to 14 Sept 2024. This observance calls WSCS women to spiritual growth, awareness and action. Through it, women are challenged to engage in prayer and to reflect upon stewardship as they respond to the needs in the home, church, community and the world at large to fulfil God’s mission. 

PSD Meditations, prayer and giving have been its central focus. WSCS women are encouraged to increase their self-denial through sacrificial acts to bless others.

This month’s Missions Prayer Meeting will take place on Wednesday, 18 Sep, at 8pm in the Jordan Hall. Hear from Roger & Pearlyn who are missioners with Navigators with a unique mission: To disciple IT professionals into passionate disciple-makers. We will also be praying for urban youth at this session. 

The PLMC Last Local Conference 2024 will be held on Tuesday, 24 September 2024, at 7.30 pm at the Conference Room, Level 3, Covenant Centre, to discuss the following agenda items:

1. Confirmation and Adoption of Minutes of the First Local Conference 2024 dated 23 January 2024

2. Matters Arising from the Minutes

3. Receive and Adopt the 2023/2024 Reports of Paya Lebar Methodist Church

4. Election of delegates, officers and stewards

5. Recommendation for Renewal of Local Preacher’s Licence

6. Adoption of the Budget 2024/5

7. Authorisation of the incoming LCEC to accept the Audited Accounts for FY 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2024 and report to the First Local Conference

8. Approval of the Governance Evaluation Checklist 2023/2024 and authorisation of the incoming LCEC to submit the checklist by January 2025

REV PHILIP LIM, 58, has been elected the new Bishop of The Methodist Church in Singapore (MCS). He will be consecrated on 6 December 2024, taking on the role of spiritual leader for more than 45,000 Methodists in 46 churches across Singapore. He was elected Bishop on the 7th ballot at the Church’s 13th General Conference Session held from 2 to 6 September 2024.

We rejoice with Rev Lim  and congratulate him on this new appointment. Let us continue to pray for the Holy Spirit’s leading and guiding upon him as he faces new challenges and responsibilities, and we pledge our support and care for him and his office.

Working closely with the church, PLMC, the BB/GB Captain and officers oversee the program and leaders, boys and girls, with the objective to foster spiritual growth. 

Scope:

1. Cultivate growth across the four-fold areas: spiritual/character, physical, educational, and service.

2. Engage in activities and responsibilities aligned with their area of expertise, such as drills, devotions, badge work, and more.

3. The officers support the Captain to run the company

Training will be provided and prior brigade experience would be useful but not necessary.

Kingdomtide starts 25 Aug 2024.

Kingdomtide, known as Ordinary Time in some churches, starts on the last Sunday in August, and is the last season in the Christian calendar. The season’s emphasis is on Christ the King Eternal, and the themes are the Kingdom of God, the Christian life and maturity, and spiritual growth, both personal and corporate. The liturgical colour is green, symbolizing growth and God’s eternal kingdom.
