This month’s Missions Prayer Meeting will take place on Wednesday, 18 Sep, at 8pm in the Jordan Hall. Hear from Roger & Pearlyn who are missioners with Navigators with a unique mission: To disciple IT professionals into passionate disciple-makers. We will also be praying for urban youth at this session.
We give Thee but Thine own,
Whate’er the gift may be
All that we have is Thine alone
A trust, O God, from Thee.
To comfort and to bless,
To find a balm for woe
To tend the lone and fatherless,
Is angels’ work below.
O God our Heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege of partnering with you to bring your blessings of love, hope, and salvation to the community around us. As the hymn lyrics say, whatever we have – our time, our effort, our resources – is actually yours. You have given them to us to steward them appropriately. So we ask that you help us to renew our minds to realise that we should be using these blessings that you have bestowed on us to comfort and bless the people in our community.
We pray for the teachers at the Hope Student Care Centre. We remember them this month on Teacher’s Day, and we ask that you will infuse them with the Holy Spirit to model and teach Godly attributes and Christian behaviour to the students. We ask that you renew their strength each new day as they teach and nurture the children. We also pray that the children will pick up Christian values from the teachers while they are at the centre. We ask that you help them to realise that you love them very much. We pray especially that you will give them the strength to study hard and that you will bless them with energy and wisdom to prepare for the coming end-of-year exams.
We also pray for the students in the Hope Student Care Centre. We pray especially for those who are in Primary 6 and who are preparing to take their PSLE. We commit all of them into your hands. As they prepare for their exams, may they be able to focus and understand the work that is presented to them. And on the day of their exams, bless them with wisdom to understand the questions and to apply what they have learned throughout the paper. Most of all, O God, we pray for your peace to come upon them, and that they will learn to cast their worries into your hands.
We pray for all those in Covenant Family Service Centre – for the social workers there and for the families whom they are currently ministering to. We thank you for all the social workers in CFSC and for the work they do to help the distressed families in the Hougang and Buangkok neighbourhood. We pray that you will bless them with your Shalom peace and calmness, even as they bring that same Shalom peace and calmness to the families they help. We ask that you give them a special anointing of strength and confidence to assist the families to find the necessary help they need from the various government agencies.
We pray for the families who are clients of the Covenant Family Service Centre. As they are ministered to by the social workers, we ask for you to touch their hearts so that they will be open to seek reconciliation where possible, to offer forgiveness to those who have wronged them, and to work with the social workers to restore their dignity, their self-worth, and their self-respect. Help them to see that it is your love for them that will make this possible in their lives, so that they can take a step to want to know you and your Son Jesus Christ.
It is in Jesus’ name that we pray these things. Amen!
