A/Prof Tan Lai Yong is a medical doctor by training. He graduated from NUS in 1985. In 1996, he and his family relocated to Yunnan, China, where he was involved in poverty alleviation, community development and training of village health workers. They stayed in Yunnan from 1996 to 2010.
He joined the College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT) as a Resident Fellow in 2012, in the pioneering days of the college. He was CAPT's Director for Outreach and Community Engagement from 2012 to 2020. He also taught short courses at the Division of Family Medicine of the YLLSOM (NUS).
A/Prof Tan was given the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award in the AY 2012/13. As a 3-time recipient of the Residential Colleges Teaching Excellence Award, A/Prof Tan was given the NUS Residential Colleges Teaching Excellence Award Honour Roll.
He is married with 2 grown children. He enjoys the outdoors, has taken part in several Wilderness Medicine trainings courses and have led about 10 NUS STEER trips to countries such as Botswana, China, India and Myanmar. He is now an adjunct faculty and spends up to 8 months a year in rural communities, involved in healthcare and youth projects.

a. Opportunities for evangelism and for the establishment of local churches among unreached people and raising local believers to reach and disciple new believers.

c. Safety and provision of our missionaries and missions partners working among the unreached people that they be protected from harm, their needs are provided for and for wisdom, strength and resilience in the face of challenges and discouragements.
d. Spiritual awakening and revival among the unreached people, asking God to pour out His Spirit in power and draw many to Himself.

Let us pray for:
a. Growing and strong relationship with God, maintaining a posture of spiritual restfulness, maturity in the faith, and overflow of the Spirit
b. Healthy physical and emotional well-being, stable financial support, strong family life and wisdom in handling stressful conditions.
c. Courage and obedience to the Spirit’s leading in the advancement of the gospel in their work and ministry.
d. Prayer, encouragement, care and friendship from their Cell, friends and congregation – so that they will find joy and strength in the Lord’s work through these
support networks.
3. Our Congregation members - who are physically ill or recuperating from illness, emotionally distressed, spiritually struggling, and socially disenfranchised – that they will experience God’s powerful presence and abound in God’s grace and hope.
Pray for their local friendships, for open hearts, and transformed lives. “At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the
mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3, ESV).
Pray for the country, government, and the local people. “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its
welfare you will find your welfare” (Jeremiah 29:7, ESV)

Director/Executive, Counselling Ministry
Job Overview
Reporting to his/her immediate supervisor, the incumbent will be involved in both counselling and management of clients. As a team leader, he/she will assist in developing the counselling ministry, and work together with a team of volunteers in delivering effective counselling services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional counselling services to individuals, couples, families and groups, and preferably possess some knowledge to counsel child and youth clients, to improve their well-being
Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling programmes on clients’ progress in resolving identified problems
Collaborate and network with Supervisor and other staff members as part of clients’ treatment plans, and recommend and implement areas for improvement
Prepare and maintain proper documentation of case records
Develop and conduct training and workshops to enhance the well-being of the community
Requirements
Minimum Degree in Counselling or equivalent
At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in pastoral care and counselling work
Dedicated and passionate about advocating the importance of mental health
A team player who is able to work collaboratively with other ministries
Proactive self-starter with analytical and creative mind, and ability to work independently
Possess good organizational, communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

1. HOPE Student Care Centre (an Outreach arm of PLMC)
PROGRAMME STAFF, HOPE STUDENT CARE CENTRE (PART TIME)
BASIC ROLE
The Programme staff supports the Superintendent in the development of programs for students. She/He will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Student Care Centre, which includes but not limited to the following:
Implement and executes programs for the students
Supervise and guide the children (Primary 1 to 6) in their study to ensure completion of daily homework
Guide students in creating good habits in their daily lives
Provide a secure, caring, and loving environment for the students in the Centre.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and provide guidance to the students in their studies.
Provides students with opportunities to grow.
Supervise the students in terms of their behaviour and learning habits. Always use positive disciple techniques.
Plans, prepare, and execute programs with the Staff to enhance the total development of the students.
Assist with administrative duties (Enrolment, collection of forms) and upkeep of centre premises.
Ensure safety and timely transfer of students from school to student centre.
Preparation of progress reports for each student.
Participates and support in the Centre’s programmes. (In-house, Outdoor and Outreach)
Performs all other related duties described herein or such other duties as shall be assigned by the Superintendent from time to time.
Job Requirements:
Minimum “O” Level or higher with tutoring experience with Primary school students is advantageous
Able to teach Primary School Subjects
Passionate about working with children
Possess good communication and classroom management skills
Creative and loving energy with a positive disposition
Computer Skills – Microsoft Office and Google Suite
