The 40 Days of Blessing may be over, but we are called to live the blessed life, and that includes praying together. Silver Boxes

1. We thank God for parents who encouraged their children to write cards to encourage our leaders and some showered us with gifts to appreciate our leaders.

2. We also thank God for our staff, key leaders and Gareth's cell group for planning the special Teacher's Day for our leaders on 28 August.

3. Pray for our upcoming Camp Discovery, Kids in the Book (Old Testament) from 6 to 8 Sep. We thank God for the good response from the children. Pray for our children to encounter God through the Bible, good health for Rev Nicholas Choo and our leaders and children as they attend the camp.

Sonshine Kids

1. Praise God for our young leaders who helmed the Special Teacher's Day programme last Saturday. The children and the leaders had a great time. And we pray that the children will hide God's Word in their heart.

2. Pray for the children to continue to join us on each Saturday, and for God's leading as we think about how we can cast our nets wider.

1. We thank God for the Workshop on 29 Aug conducted by David & Cynthia Leong. We praise God for a smooth and meaningful time. Let’s pray that we will process and apply what we have learned.

2. We ask God for His leading and guidance upon the Alpha and Baptism & Membership Class, both starting on 4 Sep. We pray that the participants will find these safe places to explore & deepen their commitment.

3. We pray for the Disciple One & Three Classes, that both participants and facilitators will continue to enjoy learning in this environment.

Care Hub is formed to support and journey alongside our members / worshippers whose lives and livelihoods have been affected by this crisis. The end goal of Care Hub is pastoral care, for someone to journey with them and remind them they are beloved of God and to find strength in God to face the challenges.

As each individual has different needs, Care Hub serves as a one-stop helpline where an individual can obtain support in the church in various areas. If you have been affected by this crisis, Care Hub is here to support you.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to be a worshipper at PLMC to obtain help for Care Hub?

As long as you have been worshipping with us, either on-site or online, you are welcome to obtain help from Care Hub. We seek to journey with you as a family of faith during, and beyond, the COVID-19 period.

2. Is it compulsory for a Care Befriender to journey with me?

Yes, it is. We are not designed to journey alone. The church is the Body of Christ and each of us is a part of the body. Having a Care Befriender in this journey is to experience the community and interdependence of our Triune God. God is never alone; we need others too.

3. How long will the Care Befriender journey with me?

Each person has a different journey. Each journey is unique. In general, the Care Befriender will journey with you 3 – 6 months. Let these be a meaningful journey of deepening in God through the company of another.

4. Can I request for pastor to be my spiritual mentor/counsellor?

Yes, you can make the request, but we are all called to be a priesthood of believers hence most likely a mature believer will be assigned to journey with you. Trust that it is God’s hand that has led you thus far, and He will ensure that you are mentored or counselled by the right person with the necessary spiritual gifts for you.

5. I am not affected by COVID-19 but I need someone to talk to. Do I send my request through Care Hub?

No, Care Hub specifically caters to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications. Please contact the relevant ministry that caters to your need directly. Contact details can be found at the end of this site, under ‘Our Ministries’.

Head of Finance/Finance Executive

Job Overview

You will lead and be responsible for all the church's financial accounting processes and practices. You will ensure that all financial procedures are fully aligned and complied with the government and the organisation financial regulations and policy. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of the accounting and finance functions of the church. In addition, you will prepare the statutory reports and provide accurate and timely financial reports and statements for the management's review. The Finance Department will also be responsible for the governance and risk management of the church.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for all financial processes within the church, including budgeting, year-end functions, and financial reports and statements for review by the management

• Ensure thorough and timely administration, and sound financial stewardship and clear communication in matters related to all financial aspect

• Ensure funds and deposits in the church are adequately tracked and accounted for

• Ensure adherence to church governance requirements, and timely and accurate statutory reporting to charities portal

• Review the annual insurance policies of the church

• Process all payments, ensure they are appropriately approved before timely disbursement

• Review monthly and year-end financial statements and verifies banking accuracy

• Manage and execute the Finance Committee (FC) financial decisions as directed by the Church Treasurer and the Finance Chairperson

• Work with the Church Treasurer, the Finance Chairperson and all budget holders to ensure overall budget parameters are met

• Other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Pastor-In-Charge

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, professional accountancy qualification or equivalent

• At least 3 – 5 years relevant experience with financial operations, familiar with ACCPAC

• Ability to think strategically and analytically to understand and align the objectives and dynamics of the organisation

• Strong leadership and good interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively with various Ministry Leadership Team, and Committees

• Proficient with MS Excel and MS Word

• Resourceful and independent worker; ability to multi-task
