Welcome New Pastor - Rev Vincent Goh to PLMC
Getting to Know… Pastor Vincent Goh
Rev Vincent Goh joined PLMC as a pastor on 1 July 2020. While it might be some time before you can meet Ps Vincent in person, he has kindly shared some personal information with us to get to know him.
Please tell us about yourself and your family
I joined the pastorate with TRAC on 1 August 1994 and celebrated my 25th anniversary last August. The pastoral vocation has had its fair share of up and down moments - but overall, the experience has been enriching and fulfilling. One of the things that I enjoy doing in ministry is to listen to people’s life stories because I find God’s wonderful grace at work.
My wife, Shu Yann, and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on 2 June 2020. We are blessed to have two children: Abraham and Grace. Both are worshipping at Bedok Methodist Church.
What has your journey towards ministry been like?
I am glad and proud to be a disciple of Jesus Christ; for without Him, life would be purposeless and hopeless. I was introduced to the Christian faith in the late 70s but never got serious until a “Damascus Road” experience in 1982. I nearly fell into trance and would have become a medium if not for God’s intervention and deliverance. That was the pivotal event that convinced me of the existence of God, and also led me to full time vocational ministry.
In the last twenty five years with TRAC, I have been appointed to seven different churches. I was honoured to be appointed as PIC on four of these appointments which I have learned many life lessons.
How do you see yourself as a pastor and where do your passions lie?
I am convinced that as a Christian we have two great commitments to keep:
a. The Great Commandment – that is, to love God wholeheartedly; and
b. The Great Commission – that is, to love people compassionately.
I must confess that I have not arrived at keeping these commitments, but I am striving to do so with God’s help and strength.
As to the model of being a pastor, I picture myself in fulfilling these three descriptions or roles:
a. The pastor is a Prophet: God’s messenger to truthfully deliver God’s Word without fear;
b. The pastor is a Priest: God’s shepherd to compassionately love and care for God’s people;
c. The pastor is a Servant-leader: God’s servant-leader to courageously exercise godly leadership in an ungodly and broken world .
What do you do for fun and leisure?
I love to sit at a quiet spot to read and reflect. I also enjoy jogging and cycling outdoors to keep fit – nature is so good for the mind and body!
What do you like to eat? (Very important in PLMC)
I am not a foodie that will “hunt” for the best stall or restaurant for their special dishes, and neither do I eat junk food. But people have invited me to do food tastings so maybe I can call myself an amateur food critic? If I must decide on a dish and cuisine – I would say curry fish head and Peranakan food.
How can we support and pray for you?
As I am new to PLMC, I would appreciate much prayers from the church - for a smooth transition into the life and ministry of PLMC, to be a godly influence and an example in spiritual life, and ministry excellence as we serve with a common vision – to be “A Family Blessed to Bless the Community and the Nations”.

Children's Ministry
Silver Boxes
1. Praise God for the leaders and the online ministry team that have worked tirelessly to keep the online lessons going for our Silver Boxes lessons and for our fortnightly Silver Boxes Connect sessions (through zoom) for Junior (1st & 3rd week) and Kindy (2nd &4th week) children in Silver Boxes.
2. Praise God for the supportive parents and children who have been joining us fortnightly. We pray for more children to join in our Silver Boxes Connect, so that they will continue to connect with us and their friends, and when we can return to church to worship, they will not feel that they are strangers, but closer and deeper ties have been developed, and friendship bonds will continue with one another.
3. Pray for strong infilling of the Holy Spirit upon us, for apart from Him, we can do nothing. Unless the Lord builds the house, we labour in vain. Ps127:1.
Sonshine Kids
1. Praise God for bringing the children who have not been regular at our Sonshine Kids, back with us. We are thankful for the leaders who have persevered in reaching out to the children and families, and connecting with them. Pray that God will continue to shine upon these families and the light of Christ will bring hope and freedom to each home.
2. Some of the children in the families are facing difficulties, and we pray that God will free them of bondage and release them to soar on eagles' wings.
Mandarin Service
Pray that all worshippers will have fresh encounters with God even though the services are online. Ask God to strengthen those who have weakened and strayed away; to awaken those who have become too complacent. Pray that they don’t forget God’s goodness but have greater spiritual hunger for God.
Young Adults
1. Pray for our Young Adults who are seeking internship and employment opportunities.
2. Pray for our Young Adult cell groups to have meaningful time together as they continue to meet online.
3. Pray for those serving as frontline workers, especially for the medical staff and others supporting the fight against Covid-19 in other capacities. Pray over their health and well-being.
4. Pray for our Young Adults who are serving their National Service, especially for them to adapt to military life and serve the country well, during these very unusual times
5. Pray for more to be willing to step up and serve as leaders in the YA ministry.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to be a worshipper at PLMC to obtain help for Care Hub?
As long as you have been worshipping with us, either on-site or online, you are welcome to obtain help from Care Hub. We seek to journey with you as a family of faith during, and beyond, the COVID-19 period.
2. Is it compulsory for a Care Befriender to journey with me?
Yes, it is. We are not designed to journey alone. The church is the Body of Christ and each of us is a part of the body. Having a Care Befriender in this journey is to experience the community and interdependence of our Triune God. God is never alone; we need others too.
3. How long will the Care Befriender journey with me?
Each person has a different journey. Each journey is unique. In general, the Care Befriender will journey with you 3 – 6 months. Let these be a meaningful journey of deepening in God through the company of another.
4. Can I request for pastor to be my spiritual mentor/counsellor?
Yes, you can make the request, but we are all called to be a priesthood of believers hence most likely a mature believer will be assigned to journey with you. Trust that it is God’s hand that has led you thus far, and He will ensure that you are mentored or counselled by the right person with the necessary spiritual gifts for you.
5. I am not affected by COVID-19 but I need someone to talk to. Do I send my request through Care Hub?
No, Care Hub specifically caters to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ramifications. Please contact the relevant ministry that caters to your need directly. Contact details can be found at the end of this site, under ‘Our Ministries’.
