PLMC, in partnership with SG Accident and Help Centre, has started a meal programme to help injured migrant workers who have been affected by "Circuit Breaker" measures. It has come to our knowledge that this group of injured workers have been neglected and are struggling to get help.

These brothers who have worked and contributed to the building of Singapore are mostly injured during the course of their work. Most of them are currently residing at shop houses or temporary housing quarters around the Little India area.
You might be wondering how an individual like yourself could give back to these oftentimes overlooked workers. Every little bit you and I can do together will help:
a) lift up the (now low) spirits of the workers;
b) give us who have a great love for Jesus an opportunity to love and care for the sojourners in our land.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Meal Programme (Max 3 cars, 2 persons/car, for each session)
We need volunteers to help pack and deliver meals to the brothers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Each session will require a maximum of three drivers. Timing is between 5pm to 6.30pm. Packing and delivery locations mostly at Little India, more details will be provided.
Pack and Deliver Essential Items (Max 6 persons for each session)
We also need six volunteers on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to help pack and deliver essential items to migrant workers who are staying either at factory-converted dormitories and/or temporary housing quarters. Timing is between 1pm to 5pm. Volunteer is not required to drive. Packing location at Little India, delivery locations vary. More details will be provided.
WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU?
A love for those whom our Lord Jesus loves.

These are stories of life in PLMC told through the eyes of worshippers and staff. In this issue, we feature the Outreach distribution of care packs to our Migrant Worker brothers and to low-income families in the Braddell Heights community on 6 April 20, just before the Circuit Breaker was imposed.
Even during this Circuit Breaker when we are advised to stay home as much as possible, there are still some essential services that require a hand to serve the community. Though these activities are run by secular organisations, our involvement, at the comfort level of our families, will still bring the light of Christ to the world. Some opportunities for you to serve in include meal distribution to vulnerable seniors and sewing face masks. Details below.

Emotional intelligence is the capacity to blend thinking and feeling to make optimal decisions hence helping individuals to develop a successful relationship between self and others.
By being emotionally intelligent, you will have greater self-awareness in managing your thoughts and feelings, the ability to recognize and understand the emotions of others and rationalizing yourself effectively when facing challenges. In this talk, the following topics will be covered:
What is Emotional Intelligence (EQ)?
How does EQ help us in our daily work?
Tips on managing emotions in the current COVID-19 stay home or work place at home situation
In this current COVID-19 situation, many of us are trying to cope with being shut in, adjusting to spending long periods of time at home with family members. With virtual work from home in place, colleagues and keeping schedules for work have put many of us in new emotional and stress modes. This FOC online talk teaches us the techniques of managing our EQ to keep our relationships strong so that we can better cope with the challenges.

We welcome Mrs Florence Lim into the PLMC staff team as Director of Counselling on Mon, 4 May 2020. Please give her a warm welcome when you see her around church!
Our condolences to the families of the late:

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captive and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
A. PRAY FOR THE LOST (ALL WHO HAVE NOT COME TO RECEIVE CHRIST AS THEIR LORD AND SAVIOUR)
Pray for windows of opportunities to share the saving grace of Christ with the lost, especially our family members, friends and or neighbours, that they will have physical, spiritual and emotional freedom in every aspect of their lives.
and provide for those who grieve in Zion to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise, instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendour.
B. PRAY FOR THE VULNERABLE (HOMELESS, ELDERLY, CHILDREN AND THE POOR AND NEEDY)
Pray for God to bestow on these a spirit of praise and thanksgiving instead of fear and anxiety.
Pray that the children will become God’s oak of righteousness and bloom wherever God has planted them.
Pray for a hedge of protection, especially around those who are most vulnerable. That Jesus will always be within them, to strengthen their inner man so that they can withstand this season.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
C. PRAY FOR PLMC FAMILY (VOLUNTEERS)
Pray that as God’s light and salt to everyone, our PLMC members will begin to build friendships, restore relationships (within and without their homes).
Pray that God will use PLMC to be restorers and builders of networks of relationship so that others will see Christ in and through them.
Pray for our spiritual ears and eyes to be opened, so that as a church, we will align ourselves with God’s purposes and agenda for our church, families and nation.
Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
And you will be called priests of the Lord, you will be named ministers of our God.
You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.
D. PRAY FOR THE SOJOURNERS (MIGRANT WORKERS)
Pray that as God builds us, we will also build up and encourage our migrant friends who are in our midst.
Pray that those whom we have reached will be filled with peace and compassion for their friends so that they, too, will be light among them.
Our migrant friends who stay in close proximity with many others at the worker’s dormitory - pray for safety and protection over each individual.
For all who have to stop work altogether, pray for God to keep all our friends physically and emotionally strong and healthy, and for God’s joy and peace to fill all their hearts. Pray for employers to provide all the care and support that is needed, especially providing food and paying the workers’ salaries during this “Circuit Breaker”.
For all who are sick and those who are quarantined, pray for God to restore them back to complete wholeness and good health.
Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples.
All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”
E. SPECIAL PRAYER FOR ALL THE FRONTLINERS (HEALTH CARE WORKERS, SOCIAL SERVICE OFFICERS, OUR GOVERNMENT AND ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO ARE WORKING TIRELESSLY)
Pray for front-liners – especially those who have children & elderly at home – to be filled with the peace and joy of the Lord even as they serve and support the sick.
Ask God to put a hedge of protection over everyone.
Pray for God to strengthen all physically, emotionally and spiritually as they serve in their various capacities.
Pray for the Government to have wisdom, discernment and boldness to govern, manage and care for the different social economic groups of people in Singapore.
Circuit Breaker Devotions with your pastors at 8am, Mon - Sat, on Facebook:
All of us are suffering in different ways, various degrees, due to COVID-19. But low-income families are suffering more due to drop in wages or job loss which aggravate already trying circumstances. Most of us can still afford to give something to help. Please consider giving a gift of any amount here: bit.ly/2K7jy2U
TRAC WSCS presents an e-booklet of daily devotions for the month of May. With contributions from members of various Methodist churches, including from PLMC, all are welcome to download a copy here: tinyurl.com/Our-Strength-Every-Morning
Prepare Yourself for Online Worship
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
We know a lot of our messaging these past weeks, based on the government advisories, have led to a bit of confusion as at first, we could meet in groups no bigger than 250, then a maximum of 10, and now only with our immediate families.
We thank God for technology that has allowed us to meet online. It wasn't too long ago that we were thrilled by WhatsApp and video calls which are now part of everyday life. So let's continue to "meet together" online.
We can also "spur one another on" through social media, messaging apps, and good old telephone calls.
