Week 4: Collaboration

What is Collaboration?

COLLABORATION

Collaboration is working among and across personal and global networks to achieve common goals. It requires cultural competence and personal and civic responsibility in all environments. Collaboration also requires open and flexible approaches to leadership. Twenty-first century collaboration reflects:

  • non-hierarchical leadership based on individual skill sets.
  • respect for a complex process that requires individuals to contribute and participate in meaningful interactions.
  • the belief that group synergy enhances productivity.
  • understanding and application of effective group processes to solve problems.
  • productive group interactions.
  • respectful disagreement.

2. Add rule of NO TALKING

3. Add rule of NO LOOKING!

4. One person only touch yellow bricks and the other only touches red bricks

Collaboration Challenge #2: Hyper Island LEGO Challenge

LEGO Challenge

This one comes from Hyper Island Toolbox which is a wonderful website with many activities to enhance various topics.

https://toolbox.hyperisland.com/lego-challenge

This is a great little challenge to do with students and staff to discuss collaboration in the reflection process at the end.

The key with this is to come back full circle to real world situation. How can we take what we learned to enhance our school culture as a faculty? As a classroom?

LEGO Exquisite Corpse Writing & Build Adventure

What is this?

I am using Rory's Story Cubes or the app to set the stage. I have rolled the dice and created the template for us to build together!

1. Each slide is a part of the story. A person(you) or a group will use the images rolled on the dice to tell the next part of the story.

2. Collectively we will write a story.

3. Collectively we will design build challenges for each chapter(slide).

4. Collectively we will build models and share!

Feel free to make a copy and use in your classroom and then share the result as well!

Here are the slides!

Check the slide notes for instructions!

Collaborate on Ideas

If you have an activity that others could benefit from, then please let me know so I can add it here to this section for us to learn together!
