National Deferred Donor Registry (NDDR)
The National Deferred Donor Registry (NDDR) is a private industry database used by most U.S. plasma centers. When a donor is deferred, their name may be permanently added to this list, preventing plasma donation at centers nationwide.
Many donors are surprised to learn that this registry is not government-run. It is maintained by the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) and relied upon by companies such as Biolife, CSL Plasma, Grifols, and Octapharma.
A listing in the NDDR often feels like a permanent ban, even when test results were later cleared or when donors did not fully understand their rights.
Your story may help highlight how the NDDR is used and whether fair appeal options are available.
