“Deferrals” aren't supposed to be permanent. Some people say they are unable to donate organs or blood, get insurance, or even employment because they were permanently banned and put on the National Deferred Donor Registry (NDDR).
We’ve got a legal consultant that’s reviewing donors' lab results, registration paperwork, and deferral notifications and wants you to share your story. It's scary enough to be wrongly told you have HIV or Hepatitis, but countless donors have had false positive lab results reported by plasma centers and cannot get their own medical records updated when new tests show they are actually negative. Others are sent in circles, told to contact the NDDR or go back to the plasma center, only to find correcting the record is difficult or impossible. Plasma donors face permanent bans from centers like BioLife Plasma, CSL Plasma, Grifols Plasma, Octapharma Plasma, KedPlasma, and others due to false positives, outdated testing protocols, outdated FDA guidance, or vaccines that may trigger temporary positive results. Even when follow-up tests show negative results, donors often remain blocked, making it hard to exercise their donor rights or restore access to donations.
