The Plano West Color Guard Team is an extracurricular JROTC team responsible for presenting the Colors in regional drill meets. The members of Color Guard practice drill and ceremony (in accordance to TC 3-21.5), proper wearing of the uniform (in accordance to AR 670-1 and CCR 145-2) and focuses heavily on uniformity, precision, and perfection, making it one of the most unique and hard working teams to be a part of.
The Color Guard is a four-member formation consisting of two flag bearers and two guards. The American Flag is carried by the Color Guard Team Commander. The Texas Flag is carried by another member of the Color Guard, as well as the remaining American Guard and Texas Guard (both armed with replicas of M1903 Springfield Rifles). All members must be well trained in basic drill and ceremony before entering the team.
We have 2 Color Guard teams at our disposal. The first is our Varsity Team, They go to all official meets and compete, as well as do color guard for our Annual Visits and for JPA. The second is the JV Team. This team oversees and handles all other color guard events like the Homecoming Parade, Pep Rallies, and other events for the community as requested.
Teams are made up of a mix with both male and female cadets.
