The JPA is a triennial inspection that gives the cadets have an opportunity to earn a rating of “Honor Unit with Distinction” or HUD. The HUD is given to a unit that scores 95 percent or higher in the evaluation and the cadets are then authorized to wear a “gold star” as an indication of their accomplishment.

The JPA inspection consists of the following:

• Continuous Improvement Plan Presentation

• Service Learning Project Presentation

• Color Guard Performance

• In-Ranks Inspection

• Cadet Portfolios

At the 2023-2024 JPA, the Plano West Wolf Battalion achieved a HUD award, or a Gold star.

The Assistant's Visit (AV) is an annual inspection phase in which the JROTC Unit prepares for the triennial JPA. The same items are inspected with the sole difference being that instead of a representative from brigade inspecting the unit, another Senior Army Instructor (SAI) from a school within the district will conduct the inspection.

In 2024, the Plano West Wolfpack Battalion achieved a score of 96.4%, retaining the gold star, and our position among the top 10% of all programs.
