Toubkal Sommet trek - 4 days

The most popular trekking areas are located in the Djebel Toubkal Area. At 4167 meters, Djebel Toubkal is Northern Africa’s highest point and takes at least three days to climb up and return to Marrakesh. Anything less and you risk altitude sickness.

Day 1: Marrakech– Imlil

A short transfer of two hours on a private vehicle, you reach Imlil, mountain village and real gateway to the Toubkal massif. This is where you’ll meet the muleteer who will bring your luggage to the lodge. After a traditional lunch, begin the trek by discovering the ingenuity of the Berber mountaineers: irrigation canals, terraced farming ,mills … and villages sitting on the slopes of the valley up to the tizi n’Tamatert (2272 m); everything here is designed to not waste a single acre of fertile land.

Night in Imlil.

Day 2 : Imlil –Toubkal refuge

The climb towards the shelter begins following the channels that irrigate the terraced crops. After the lunch break at Sidi Chamarouch’s small village (and marabout), the mountain becomes more arid and only a few bleatings of goats and sheep guarded by young shepherds accompany your walk. Night at the Toubkal refuge (Neltner refuge, 3210 m).

Day 3 : Toubkal refuge- Toubkal summit (4167m)

The ascent towards the summit is without major difficulty. The path goes up a valley enclosed that leads to a pass. A large ridge then leads to the summit. Here, the view isstriking, dominating a large part of the Atlas and the plains of Haouz, to the north, and Ouarzazate, to the south. The descent is by the same way and, from the refuge. Night at Toubkal refuge (neltner refuge 3210)

Day 4: Toubkal refuge – Marrakech

Descent to Imlil by the same way (2nd day). The driver is waiting in the village to take you back to Marrakech.
