Rose valley trek - 6 days

A wonderful mule trek takes us through these peaceful valleys, surrounded by colorful foothills and pinky mountain ranges. We walk on well-defined mountain paths crossing charming berber villages, which give us an insight into the simple lives of these hardy mountain people.

Stretching out between the high Atlas mountains and the volcanic ranges of Jbel Saghro, geologically it consists of two river valleys, are Mgoun and the Dadès. The Rose valley is famous for its rose growing which have been cultivated here for centuries.

From April to May, the valley of roses gives off a pleasant scent and is covered with multi-coloured flowers. The gathering process, traditionally a woman's task, requires great dexterity and patience. The flowers are carefully cut one by one and laid in willow baskets which are then sent to the distilleries.
