Point Isabel Independent School District (ISD) has an accomplished band program known for its marching band, concert bands, and wind ensemble. The Silver Tarpon Marching Band has consistently advanced to the state marching band competition and has received numerous Division 1 Superior Ratings at the UIL Pigskin Marching Contest. The high school concert bands and junior high concert bands have also achieved consistent UIL Sweepstakes Honors and 1st Division Ratings on Stage and in Sight Reading. The Port Isabel High School Varsity Wind Ensemble has advanced to the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band State Finals every opportunity since 2006. Additionally, the Silver Tarpon Band has submitted and advanced numerous into the Outstanding Performace Series.

The Port Isabel "Silver Tarpon" Band's mission is quite simple: Band equals Family. Through this belief, we teach our students the importance of accountability, commitment, discipline, and hard work. Throughout a students' time in the Tarpon band, they get to form new friendships, reach higher potentials, and create life-long memories. The Tarpon band has a long legacy of excellence and a positive culture, which essentially results in the creation of one unified family where every student is accepted and molded into the best version of themselves.Â
